Take A Second Look
General overview for April 2009.
April is going to be quite a much easier month than last. There are a total of 15 alignments. There are 9 favourable ones, and 6 not so helpful ones.
There are quite a few shifts of energy this month as 3 planets change signs and two planets change direction. We may need to take a second look at what is going on in our lives and make adjustments where necessary. Sometimes we just continue along our paths without taking sideways glances. We seem to operate on auto-pilot, when perhaps we could re-consider what really needs to change. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.
In chronological order the changes in the heavens this month are: Pluto turns retrograde on 5 April; there will be a Full Moon on 9 April; Mercury enters Taurus on 10 April; Venus re-enters Pisces on 11 April; Venus turns direct on 18 April; the Sun enters Taurus on 20 April; Mars enters Aries on 22 April; Venus enters Aries on 24 April; there will be a New Moon in Taurus on 25 April;
Pluto turns retrograde on 5 April and remains in this phase up until mid September. This does not make me happy!! Hear that Universe? Whilst there are always opportunities to learn from deep inside ourselves during a Pluto retrograde phase, I still prefer this mover and shaker to be in direct motion. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess your current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards life, death, and even sex, to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for your overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, explore your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2009.
There will be a Full Moon on 9 April with the Sun at 19 degrees of Aries and the Moon at 19 degrees of Libra. so there may be cross currents of what some people feel represents expressing their own personal needs, and those who are only interested in sharing things, and/or being equal and fair for all concerned. I always feel that this represents a clash between “I am” (typically Arian) and “us” (typically Libra). Some people may have to consider looking at a situation from the other person’s point of view, rather than their own personal priorities.
Mercury enters Taurus on 10 April and remains in this sign up until 1 May. This will see a focus on financial matters, financial institutions such as banks and building societies and interest rates. The positives are that some people can use this time for serious mental concentration and get things done if they plod away long enough. Thoughts of stabilisation will be uppermost in various people’s minds. Someone connected with the arts may be in the news and receiving lots of attention. The negatives are that some will become opinionated and stubborn in their thinking and unable to move beyond their philosophical boundaries that are set in concrete. Some people will be immovable and unshakeable from their roots or their home turf.
Venus re-enters the mystical Pisces on 11 April and remains in this sign up until 25 April. This is where Venus is in her exaltation, in other words, at her best and most compassionate. We may witness some very romantic alliances in the world or people throwing parties by the sea or reveling in mystery and magical themes. Romanticism will be very evident all around and the florist industry may thrive as may the perfumery’s or other businesses associated with beauty and the lifting of the senses. Venus will stay in this sign for four weeks, so you have plenty of time to get out there and play in the romantic stakes if your are single and fancy free. This will make the ideas of love and romance occupy many peoples minds. There could be some fairytale weddings or new relationships started under this magical and mystical sign. Some though may find the fog a bit too dense to see through and could fall prey to deception and intrigue. There will be some perfect matches and probably a fair amount of perfect mismatches too.
Venus turns direct on 18 April at 29 degrees of Pisces. Venus is all about love, romance, pleasure and the good things in life. During the retrograde phase we may have re-assessed who we love, what we love and why we love them. Now we know the answer. We can move forward knowing that our affections and responses to affection are in harmony with the way we would want them. Those who may have experienced some difficulties with their beloved may now be able to put things back on track. What we value and consider a priority will now become crystal clear. Anyone with similar degrees in Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius may notice a change in their values or in their intimate relationships.
The Sun enters Taurus on 20 April and remains in this sign up until 21 May. For a month long period there will be rigidity and stiffness associated with what some believe is the only way to go or get things done. Whilst this can be good in moderation, the side effects are that there will be little flexibility and this can cause aggravation and a one eyed view of the world. The banking and financial industries may undergo some restructuring. People will be looking for practical solutions to problems. Luxuries, materialism and comfort will be a priority for some. This can be a productive time for starting a new business, especially if you are prepared to put in the dedication of a long period of time. Quick results will not manifest during this time.
Mars enters Aries on 22 April and remains in this sign up until 1 June. This is where Mars really likes to be, as he is at home there. This strong and energetic influence will last for the next five weeks. Those who wish to start any new or enterprising projects will feel the vibrations of this influence affect how quickly the job gets started. Basically the energies will be running high and this can be put to positive use by expressing yourself and using your muscles and enthusiasm to get things done. This is not the time to slack off or misdirect your energies. Those who go out of their way to cause problems for others will be wasting the better use of this time. Those on the receiving end of aggressive behaviour will hold resentment and anger towards their perpetrators. Mars is the God of War and in Aries this can be destructive and highly volatile. Those who harbor resentments or cannot healthily express their anger will feel they are being forced with their backs to the wall and all hell may break loose as a result.
Venus enters Aries on 24 April and remains in this sign up until 7 June. This can generally mean a bonus time for hairdressers, when everyone wants to make their head (and any hair on it) look better. The hairdressing industry may have a boom time and find they are in the spotlight for some reason. If you want to make a good impression on someone, make sure your grooming is perfect, or forget it. We may witness many and varied new romances that can start quickly and go very swiftly and hastily through the motions towards a quick end. Dynamic sales pitches that involve appealing to the senses and to physical attraction, passion and romance can catch public attention at this time. The fashion industry may take on a bold and daring tone so be prepared for colourful, full-on and striking displays. Social gatherings that incorporate much glitter and glamour and sparkle will be successful. Artists and musicians can be highly productive during this time.
There will be a New Moon in Taurus on 25 April. This is an ideal time to get practical and perhaps even open a new savings account. Whatever you set in motion now can be quite long-lasting.
Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.
The favourable days in April 2009 are:
Sunday 5 April: Mercury sextile Jupiter. This angle promises those who strive to see the bigger picture will do so and teach those who listen how to find it themselves. A great day to start a holiday or travel to places previously unseen. This could prove to be a great day to start writing a new book, open a book store or one associated with the travel industry. People will generally tend to be liberal and broad-minded in their thinking and approach to life. Also a favourable day to start teaching, lecturing or writing a lengthy project. The area of communications and information will be busy and any business started today that connects with these will fare well. This is a good time for negotiations and for getting your message across. The advertising and news media areas will be highly productive. There could be a merger between two large organisations, companies or countries, that can benefit everyone involved. Expansion is the key-word for the day, so plan to make this as positive a time as possible. A busy day for the travel industry and the Internet.
Tuesday 7 April: Mercury sextile Neptune. This is a wonderful alignment for us fragile human beings, especially if we wish to tune into the cosmos and see what is really there. This can be a brilliant day to tune in and discover some amazing enlightenment as to our place in the scheme of things. New publications released today will do well, especially if they can incorporate some measure of mystery in their stories. Starting a new book with a focus on the mysteries of the universe, dreams or psychic phenomena will turn out very well. Travel brochures will be eagerly snapped up today and bookings made for overseas destinations with great enthusiasm. The travel industry will have a busy day moving people from A to B in quick succession.
Friday 10 April: Sun sextile Jupiter. This is a beautiful alignment that can provide us with the inspiration and faith to get any new endeavour under way with enthusiasm and sincerity of purpose. Open an entertainment centre or have a huge banquet or festival today and it will go off like a rocket to the Moon. This is also a good day to get married, start new friendships and any project involved with gold, glamour or places of amusement or the publishing industry. It is also one of the better kind of planetary times to commence just about anything that is important to you. A new store or business opening today would do well if the focus is on books, publishing, the travel industry or to do with the law. If you strive for success on a day like this you are likely to achieve your goal. This is also a good time to start an overseas holiday.
Saturday 11 April: Mercury trine Pluto. This is the day that detectives and the police can uncover hidden motives, dead bodies, or anything else that has been covered over. Also a good time to start writing a mystery novel, solving a crossword puzzle, or doing that jigsaw. The mind will be penetrating and clear. Those who seek to discover what lies beneath the surface of things will be pleasantly surprised with what they find. Starting a new study course too will keep those in attendance in awe of what they learn.
Thursday 16 April: Sun sextile Neptune. This is one of those days that will seem magical to those who are open and attuned to the cosmic vibrations around them. A positively inspiring day and one that will be long remembered as a day that brings the beautiful side of nature and life to our attention and the recognition that there are great wonders all around us, each and every day, if we just open our eyes and senses. Spend some time relaxing near the ocean and it will soothe your tired or restless soul. Music will be inspirational and those who are gifted in this area may create some magical lyrics or tunes. Opening a store selling musical or artistic products should fare well.
Saturday 18 April. Mercury trine Saturn. This brings the kind of day to get truly focussed and organised, especially with paperwork, telephone calls and any demanding job that requires concentration and attention to detail. Maybe balance the cheque-book or start a new study course. Jobs commenced today may have long term obligations involved so if you are mature and keen to plant the seeds for things to grow slowly yet surely, take some action and get started today. This is also a good time to sit down and do some serious planning for your future. You will feel organised and enjoy the challenge of putting your life in order and meeting your obligations. Any new business proposal can be considered to be worth your effort or investigation.
Wednesday 22 April. Venus conjunct Mars. Those in the business of selling will have a field day if they use the methods of ‘sex sells’ at this time. The seductive elements between these planets can be wielded on an innocent public who will actually lap it up like a pussycat with a bowl of milk. A good day to get married, engaged, go on a first date or start a business involved in capturing the imagination of those who are interested in what attracts one to another. Items such as perfumes and aftershaves will sell well today, or any other item that lures people to one another.
Thursday 23 April: Sun trine Pluto. This can prove to be a great time to try to remake yourself or change your spots, if you need to. A day to spring clean, get rid of the old and outworn and be refreshed by the newness of starting out on a new path. Someone in power may take a gigantic leap forward or be presented with an offer that almost seems too good to be true, but it will ultimately change the course of their destiny. A wonderful day to get married or start some new enterprise that involves reform or renovation in any way. If you wish to pull down the walls and rebuild them, this is the best time to do it. New relationships formed today, whether friendship or intimate, will literally put your life into a different perspective and possibly change your life forever.
Saturday 25 April: Mercury sextile Uranus. The grey matter can be stimulated and some will have flashes of insight into previously tricky problems. A great day to try to solve a puzzle or attempt some brainstorming. New ideas could revolutionise existing thoughts and make headway for some exciting new ones. There could be some new discoveries or inventions arise in the course of the day and those who are the geniuses on the planet will also be inspired more than usual. A good day to open a communications or other business involved in the transference of information or ideas. Starting to write, or even launching a new book could also prove highly successful and grab the attention of those seeking something new and different. This alignment holds the promise of surprise and excitement. If you wish to start a unique advertising campaign or launch your ideas out into the big wide world, choose this day to do it. Many communications will contain startling information or news that will surprise and excite us, with ideas to keep us entertained and enlightened. This is a day for the scientists, the astrologers, inventors, pilots and the aviation industry to be highly productive. Flashes of insight are possible for those who are open minded. A great day to launch a product that is original and designed to have some kind of shock appeal. Some people will get the best ideas they have ever come up with so start a brainstorming session today and it will continue well into the evening due to the high mental energy.
The not so favourable days in April 2009 are:
Friday 3 April. Venus square Pluto (repeated from 6 February when Venus is going retrograde over that same degree in Aries). Not the best kind of day to start a new romance, friendship, or get engaged or married. Hidden motives or jealousy could set the tone for a disastrous relationship, so avoid those tall dark strangers who surround themselves in mystery and intrigue. Do not trust anyone you meet for the first time, no matter how enticing it may seem. You could get caught in the black widow spider’s web of deceit and corruption. Some people may violate others rights and con them into believing they are onto something wonderful, however the wolf in sheep’s clothing is very near the door. People who harbor grudges will be on every corner so avoid any entanglement that shows any sign whatsoever of someone who is bitter or twisted in any way. However this may be hard to pinpoint, due the deceptive element of this aspect.
Sunday 5 April. Mars opposition Saturn. Not a day to start a new business or new friendship or romantic involvement, nor get married or buy a car or other important machinery for your business. Not the day either to invest money or get involved in foreign affairs or overseas interests. Bide your time in all important matters and do not buy a new home today.
Wednesday 15 April. Mars conjunct Uranus. This is highly explosive and accident prone time so do not start out on any new journey or buy a car today. Try to avoid working with heavy machinery or electrical items as something may go horribly wrong. Plans will be unsettled and errors likely to arise quite unexpectedly. Take your time if people start to get pushy or forceful. Riots can develop easily so avoid large gatherings or people who are out to start a fight. Do not make any particularly personal decisions today as this could be fraught with problems and dangerous conditions. There is the tendency for people to knee-jerk in their reactions to others if they do not get what they want or hear what they want to hear. This is an accident prone day relatively speaking. People generally won’t be co-operative and disruptive behaviour and even eccentricities will be far more intolerable to cope with than usual. Avoid those who are rebellious or anti-social for they will instigate disruptive actions that will attract problems for themselves and those around them.
Thursday 23 April. Mercury square Jupiter. Big plans made today may not fulfil your initial requirements, further down the road. If you order one hundred of something, it may turn out that you only needed five. The emphasis will be on expansion and learning, but the effort and enthusiasm will be just as big an ask. Commit only to what you are suited to, or else you could find yourself out on a limb in less time that you can say your name. It would be wise not to commit yourself to anything today that could bring you possible legal difficulties further down the road. People will over-commit or take on more than is wise and choke on it all at a later time. People cannot be trusted to do as they say or follow through on obligations.
Sunday 26 April. Mercury square Neptune. This is one of those potentially deceitful days when people can easily colour over their mistakes and present a picture that is marred inside and out, if you would only lift the veil of illusion to view the ugly and distorted truth. It is wise not to sign any important documents on a day like this as there will be more loopholes than found in a fish-net. Those who generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt will prove to be the most vulnerable. Do not believe all you read or hear today as there will be lies and deception running rampant.
Monday 27 April. Mars square Pluto. This is a very close alignment between energetic Mars the God of War, and transformative Pluto, the God of the Underworld. This is the most volatile aspect we have this month and I feel can be connected with potential war threats in the world. As Mars and Pluto both have rulership over death and violence, this is not the time to walk alone in a dark alley or take any chances with your life, or risks to your safety or to meet with strangers. The air can be explosive and deep resentments can build from encounters made today that have sinister intentions. Don’t start any new business or friendships today and make every attempt to avoid people and places of a shady character, or large groups of angry people.
