All The Signs
General overview for August 2005.
This month of August has ten very helpful planetary alignments and seven to challenge us all over again.
This month I feel is a time when we really can change our world to a much better phase of existence. The magnificent Jupiter trine Neptune is one of the most beautiful and fascinating alignments that can give us some real insight into our place in the scheme of things and help us to understand what our special mission is whilst residing temporarily on this lovely planet we call Earth. The challenging aspects are actually there to help us grow, learn and mature, regardless of how we may perceive them at the time. Nothing is taken from us that we no longer need.
Once again, below, I have listed all the dates in 2005 where some of the planets change direction. Each month I will look at how this can manifest in our lives according to which planet is changing sign and/or direction.
27 March 2005 Pluto turned retrograde for 5 months and will remain in that phase up until 2 September 2005.
19 May Neptune went retrograde for 5 months and will remain in that phase up until 25 October 2005
14 June Uranus turned retrograde for 5 months and will remain in that phase up until 15 November 2005.
16 July Saturn enters Leo and will remain in this sign up until 2 September 2007.
23 July Mercury turns retrograde for 3 weeks and will remain in that phase up until 15 August.
16 August Mercury turns direct.
02 September Pluto turns direct.
01 October Mars turns retrograde for over 2 months and will remain in that phase up until 9 December 2005.
14 November Mercury turns retrograde for 3 weeks and will remain in that phase until 3 December 2005.
15 November Uranus goes direct.
22 November Saturn turns retrograde for over 4 months and will remain in that phase up until 4 May 2006.
04 December Mercury goes direct.
10 December Mars goes direct.
Pluto is still retrograde and will remain in that phase up until 2 September 2005. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess you current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards, life, death, and even sex to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for your overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, go exploring your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2005. Pluto will remain in Sagittarius until 27 November 2008. It will retrograde back into Sagittarius for five months starting in July 2008 and then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008.
There will be a New Moon at 12 degrees and 48 minutes of arc of Leo on Friday 5 August 2005. This is a time to stand out in the crowd by expressing your individuality and dressing in fine coloured threads.
Venus will enter Libra, the sign that she rules on Wednesday 17 August and will remain there until 12 September 2005. This will put the focus on justice etc and we may hear of some VIP partnerships being announced, special engagements or peace agreements. This peace-loving sign can bring harmony to areas that have been discordant in the past and people can be mended of their broken hearts or dreams. The fashion industry may also show us some lovely and elegant and/or expensive designs. Those opening businesses that focus on beauty, women’s products and services will fare better than at any other time.
There will be a Full Moon on Saturday 20 August with the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Aquarius. Those who display themselves as glamorous and regal may be at odds with those who prefer to go against the status quo.
On Saturday 23 July the life-giving Sun will enter Virgo on Tuesday 23 August. This month long transit puts the focus on services and health issues and people in the public service. There could be a focus of news related to these matters that bring one particular item into the spotlight. This is a good time to spring clean, get tidy, get more organised and perhaps even focus on a new health regime. Someone currently working in any of these related fields may receive a promotion or other assistance up the ladder of success.
Mercury is still retrograde and will remain in that phase until 16 August. I will quote again from previous articles how we mere mortals are influenced by this phenomena. (See my feature article on my website for an in-depth comment on this). However briefly, it is a time when people seem to go into an indecisive mode, or they make a decision and then renege on it at a later time. For some though this can be a good period for mental reflection and deep thought to understand what it is that you truly want to do. Often writers are highly productive during this time and some people are able to get lots of paper work done. Some have to re-trace their steps, or send that fax twice, as there are glitches and hitches that can get in the way of clear communications. This is not the time to make major decisions if you can help it. As this influence will last approximately 24 days, it can interfere with plans and arrangements, such as to do with travel, tickets, and time schedules. If you travel to a particular destination during this time, you may later go there again in the future. This can be one of the most rewarding times to reflect on your thoughts, go over any previously laid plans and reassess whether it is exactly what you had in mind. You do not need to actually set things in motion at this time, just do the planning and preparation ready for when Mercury goes direct, which will be on 16 August 2005. So check the documents three times, allow for alterations to arise, and then check it all once more for accuracy. However, if you do need to leave a loophole open for further possible changes, then this may actually prove to be a fortunate time to commence a project where there will be no objection to changes you wish to make at a later time.
On Tuesday 16 August Mercury once again turns direct, at 8 degrees of Leo, so if you have any personal points at that degree, some information may come to light regarding the area of life that Mercury rules in your own personal chart. Generally speaking, when Mercury moves back into direct motion things start to pick up speed, (especially as it is occurring in Aries, the sign associated with things moving rapidly) especially if they have recently undergone alterations or delays of any kind. Communications get back to normal, people will finally return your phone calls and the fax machine decides to work yet again, finally! Plans that had been put on hold, or holiday arrangements may now seem to flow a little smoother. You can safely trust that your thought processes are once again on track and not as changeable as they have been recently.
Uranus is still retrograde in the sign of Pisces and will remain that way up until 15 November 2005. Uranus is the inventor and the discoverer of places beyond our imagination. We may try to re-discover how we can tap into our own unique imagination and realise our true potential and capabilities. We may have denied some of the things that could be and now we may investigate and discover what really is possible.
For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception.
Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.
The favourable days in August 2005 are:
Friday 5 August: Retrograde Mercury sextile Jupiter. This angle promises those who strive to see the bigger picture will do so and teach those who listen how to find it themselves. A great day to start a holiday or travel to places previously unseen. This could prove to be a great day to start writing a new book, open a book store or one associated with the travel industry. People will generally tend to be liberal and broad-minded in their thinking and approach to life. Also a favourable day to start teaching, lecturing or writing a lengthy project. The area of communications and information will be busy and any business started today that connects with these will fare well. This is a good time for negotiations and for getting your message across. The advertising and news media areas will be highly productive. There could be a merger between two large organisations, companies or countries, that can benefit everyone involved. Expansion is the key-word for the day, so plan to make this as positive a time as possible. A busy day for the travel industry and the Internet.
Saturday 6 August: Sun conjunct retrograde Mercury. This aspect makes some people get really focussed mentally while others just get flustered or frazzled by too much grey matter being stimulated. For those who like a fast pace in their daily routine they will sail ahead smoothly and swiftly. The others will have to do it again probably, and then they will get it right. This is called a combust situation, where a planet is so close to the Sun and the Sun can literally burn up the other planet. This can cause a congestion of information on telephone lines, faxes, e-mails and even face to face communications, where one person is just not hearing the other or cannot seem to reach an agreement or get their heads together on the same issue. Postpone any really important negotiations until a better day. Some people will enjoy a day like this and they will not be agitated by the influx of interruptions or extra communications because they will literally thrive on it. At least they will not have a boring day. The rest of us will be somewhat confused and exhausted by the end of the day and be seeking some quiet time away from the demands of this modern world.
Saturday 6 August: Sun sextile Jupiter. This is a beautiful alignment of the life-giving Sun with expansive Jupiter. It can provide us with the inspiration and faith to get any new endeavour under way with enthusiasm and sincerity of purpose. Open an entertainment centre or have a huge banquet or festival then and it will go off like a rocket to the Moon. This is also a good day to get married, start new friendships and any project involved with gold, glamour or places of amusement or the publishing industry. It is also one of the better kind of planetary times to commence just about anything that is important to you. A new store or business opening today would do well if focussed on books, publishing, the travel industry or to do with the law. If you strive for success on a day like this you are likely to achieve your goal. This is also a good time to start an overseas holiday.
Monday 15 August: Mars sextile Uranus. This is a combination that is electrifying and exciting. There will be some amazing stories in the news and those who seek to surprise and shock will capture the most attention. A great day to buy a new car, an aeroplane if you can afford one, or start an automotive business or even an electronics store. Inventive and original ideas, as well as using your initiative will be pay dividends, especially if you put some extra energy into your endeavours.
Monday 15 August: Sun trine Pluto. This can prove to be a great time to try to remake yourself or change your spots, if you need to. A day to spring clean, get rid of the old and outworn and be refreshed by the newness of starting out on a new path. Someone in power may take a gigantic leap forward or be presented with an offer that almost seems too good to be true, but it will ultimately change the course of their destiny. A wonderful day to get married or start some new enterprise that involves reform or renovation in any way. If you wish to pull down the walls and rebuild them, this is the best time to do it. New relationships formed today, whether friendship or intimate, will literally put your life into a different perspective and possibly change your life forever.
Thursday 18 August: Jupiter trine Neptune. This is a wonderful angle and can be productive of great works, especially those that are done with no thought of reward for oneself. We can lift ourselves to a higher vibration and see through the mysteries of the world, and observe the potential idealism and goodness that can come from being truly humanitarian and compassion to those who are not as well off as some of us. We may be witness to some possible breakthroughs in our understanding and humanitarianism that can benefit mankind in ways we had not yet thought of. Some people may make generous donations to charities or other institutions, but whether this information is given to the public remains to be seen. Some will want to hide or camouflage their generosity and we should be humble enough to accept that. Choose this favourable day for pursuing not just the things that can benefit others, but also to get in touch with our own selves and perhaps transform some very personal relationships. The artist, musician or poet may be truly inspired and produce great works that will touch the soul of those who share in these magical moments.
Sunday 21 August: Venus sextile Saturn. This is the type of alignment that suggests a good time for entering into new negotiations, friendships or marriage. New businesses involved in the finance industry, or to do with women’s products and services, florists and perfumes will prosper if you are prepared to stick it out for the long haul. Most long-range plans set in place now will eventually make the grade if there is sufficient energy expended.
Sunday 28 August: Mercury now direct, sextile Jupiter. (repeated from 6 August). Tuesday 30 August: Venus trine Neptune. This is just wonderful for a first date, getting engaged or married or throwing a huge party or other social gathering. If you utilise the themes of the ocean, romantic or magical effects the outcome will be truly fascinating for all those who participate. Musicians, artists and poets will be in their element and thoughts and the imagination flowing freely and inspired by the mystical aspects of the Universe. A good day to open a business focussing on the elements of beauty, flowers, crystals, perfumes and women’s products.
Wednesday 31 August: Mercury trine Pluto. This is the day that detectives and the police can uncover hidden motives, dead bodies, or anything else that has been covered over. Also a good time to start writing a mystery novel, solving a crossword puzzle, or doing that jigsaw. The mind will be penetrating and clear. Those who seek to discover what lies beneath the surface of things will be pleasantly surprised with what they find. Starting a new study course too will keep those in attendance in awe of what they learn.
The not so favourable days in August 2005 are:
Tuesday 2 August: Retrograde Mercury opposition Neptune. This is one of those potentially deceitful days when people can easily colour over their mistakes and present a picture that is marred inside and out, if you would only lift the veil of elusion to view the ugly and distorted truth. It is wise not to sign any important documents on a day like this as there will be more loopholes than found in a fish-net. Those who generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt will prove to be the most vulnerable. Do not believe all you read or hear today as there will be lies and deception running rampant.
Tuesday 9 August: Sun opposition Neptune. Not the day to trust strangers, get involved in any project you know little about or to be trusting even with those whom you thought would never deceive you. Con artists will flourish today so make sure you know all the facts about someone before you even dare hand over a dollar of your hard earned income to them. There could be a big drug haul occur today and they may even get away with it, unless of course an insider wants to get them busted for a previous indiscretion involving a matter of trust that went badly wrong. Don’t get married today or start any new business for there will be hidden traps for the unwary or the gullible. This alignment is potentially very secretive and people are prone to be susceptible to major confusion. Some who are into swindling and scams will pull the wool over the eyes of those who are gullible and take everything at face value. There will be wolves hiding beneath sheep’s clothing. There will be many who will camouflage their true colours, so for those who are wearing blinkers, you may suffer at their hands. To put it simply, as I have said before, trust everyone, but cut the cake yourself. Drugs may be found in unlikely places or hidden by people whom you would not suspect. Just remember, no-one should be above reproach. Beware of danger or problems near the ocean, gas, oil wells, and take care that there is nothing contaminating your food or drinks. Poisoning can occur for the unwary. Friendships formed today need to pass the test of time before people are considered trustworthy. Someone in power may be on an ego trip and try to call someone's bluff on a major issue. Do not trust strangers or any new kids on the block, so to speak.
Wednesday 10 August: Venus square Pluto. This is not a good time to commence a new relationship, propose, get married, go on a blind date, nor trust anyone you meet for the first time. Possessiveness and jealousy may be a hidden agenda for any romantic or business relationships that are formed today. Take care that your new found friend is not a wolf hiding in sheep’s clothing. Any money making adventure may be full or loopholes so take care if you have to sign any important documents. People can become obsessive about one another and later found to be prying into their private affairs. This is the sinister and subversive side of this aspect and can be productive of jealousy to an insane degree. Those who do choose to unite today will probably live to regret it. There will be undercurrents of resentment and hidden motives to the relationship. One may manipulate the other and this will have possessive overtones and result in pain and suffering to the victim. Also do not start any new enterprise today, especially one that involves your hard earned savings. Do not start a new business project, especially one that involves flowers, perfumes or any situation where you are expecting things to flow smoothly. Time is the great teacher, and today the lessons may be harder to swallow.
Sunday 14 August: Retrograde Mercury square Mars. This can produce an argumentative influence. Some people will open their mouths before putting the brain into gear. Some will go off half-cocked, speak rashly or incite argument and conflict. Not the day to start a fight with any close friendships or relationships as heated words can be felt for a long time after this and lead to resentment and loathing. Hurt feelings will go deep and be remembered. Be wise and stick to routine and don’t travel unless you absolutely have to. Do not buy a car or speed if driving. Accidents can happen at the most inconvenient time and if you are in a hurry, slow down, despite how late you will be. You will eventually get there if you can just focus on being the tortoise rather than the hare.
Friday 26 August: Mercury, now direct, square Mars. (Repeated from Sunday 14 August). This can produce an argumentative influence. Sunday 28 August: Mars square Neptune. This is an alignment which may cloud our vision or create errors of judgement. It can potentially be deceptive day and should be treated with care. There is great potential for people masquerading as someone else so check all those beards and wigs, just in case. Those who seek to disguise themselves will do very well and walk off with the loot before anyone even suspected that they could possibly be the culprits. It will be somewhat like the lady with the baby in the pram who is camouflaging her real intent of treachery and deceit, in a very big way. Do not start a new business today or attempt some impossible feat, for it will have holes in it that are hard to see or instructions to decipher.
