Be Kind To One Another

General overview for January 2010.

This is going to be a month that provides us with a much easier ride due to all the positive energy from the planets. We have Venus, the Sun and Jupiter all changing signs. This can reflect in people wanting peace and peaceful solutions to problems. Our sense of compassion and understanding can increase as we turn our attention towards issues of brotherhood and sisterhood. We also have Saturn turning retrograde for several months and Mercury turning direct, thank goodness!

During the first three weeks of January there are only positive alignments and no negative ones at all. This is fantastic, as we can just get on with our lives with little or no interference from the stars. Ofcourse your own personal chart may endure complications, but generally speaking this is a most propitious time.

This three week period is a time to be a little more friendly. Perhaps say hello to someone you have never met, whether that be at the bus stop or in the supermarket, and wish them well for the year ahead. 'Be kind to one another' and it will come back to you in an abundance of ways.

Throughout January there are a total of just 9 aspects with 7 favourable ones, and 2 not so helpful ones.

In chronological order the changes in the heavens this month will be: Saturn turns retrograde at 4 and a half degrees of Libra on 14 January, and remains in this phase until the end of May; there will be a New Moon at 25 degrees of Capricorn on 15 January; Mercury turns direct at 5 and a half degrees of Capricorn on 16 January; Jupiter enters Pisces on 18 January; Venus enters Aquarius on 19 January; the Sun enters Aquarius on 20 January; and lastly there will be a Full Moon on 30 January.

Saturn turns retrograde at 4 and a half degrees of Libra on 14 January, and remains in this phase until the end of May. Where there had been order, regulations and a stronger hand forcing those to follow the rules, now some people will start running amok, possibly with no sense of where they are going or how to get there. We may not have much stability in the housing market and/or land prices, or it goes through a very sluggish time. Those ambitious ones amongst us, may feel they are getting nowhere or going backwards from their aims. They may have hoped in vain that their plans would take them in leaps and bounds up the corporate ladder. Alas a more propitious time will come for that.

There will be a New Moon at 25 degrees of Capricorn on 15 January. What a lovely time to gather in a traditionally orientated, family way during the festive season.

Mercury turns direct at 5 and a half degrees of Capricorn on 16 January. If you have any personal points at that degree, some information may come to light regarding the area of life that Mercury rules in your own personal chart. Generally speaking, when Mercury moves back into direct motion things start to pick up speed, especially if they have recently undergone alterations or delays of any kind. Communications get back to normal, people will finally return your phone calls and the fax machine decides to work yet again, finally! Plans that had been put on hold, or holiday arrangements may now seem to flow a little smoother. You can safely trust that your thought processes are once again back on track and not as changeable as they have been recently.

Jupiter enters the mystical sign of Pisces on 18 January and remains in this sign up until 17 June 2010, before entering Aries. Jupiter co-rules Pisces so feel comfortable in his own sign. Jupiter likes to expand and grow, and this can especially occur in fields related to Pisces, such as mystical and spiritual matters. Some of may lean more towards these subjects to find comfort, solace and a sense of meaning to life. Pisces also rules drugs, alcohol, all chemicals, medicines, gas, oil, crime, prisons, hospitals, the ocean, fish, photography, films dance and fantasy. All of these areas and services will be in abundance. Drug dealers will have a field day (or should I say 12 months)! Health services will be in abundance, and fisherman will be overloaded with their catch. Whilst there can be improvements in any of these areas, there can also be a down side. More people will commit crimes and therefore there will be more people entering prisons. Those with addictions will find themselves in a hospital, institution or jail. There may also be some big catostrophies involving ocean or ocean liners and other boats or ships on the water. Poisoning may occur more often, some via malicious means such as spiked drinks. Jupiter will re-enter Pisces from 10 September and well into 2011.

Venus enters the independent sign of Aquarius on 19 January and will remain there until 11 February 2010. This could bring an attempt at peaceful negotiations if those ‘powers that be’ can lift themselves high enough to visualise the greater good for the world and those who live here. There may also be some sensational news regarding love affairs, romance and marriages that seem to arise out of unusual situations, or between people of very different backgrounds, cultures or age groups. Alliances and romances will be formed that seem to have something different or unique about them and they will prove to be the talk of the town. Some people will take the huge step from long term friendship to romance, taking themselves and each other by surprise. This is also a good time to start a new fashion house with a focus on the out of the ordinary and the use of original ideas.

The Sun enters Aquarius on Wednesday 20 January and remains in this sign up until 19 February 2010. This brings in an emphasis on the brotherhood of man being of importance and if we can show our altruistic side we may move forward freely and with a sense of true sharing. We can still maintain our independence and yet be part of large groups of kindred spirits and the bigger picture. We can stand out, be unique and original, yet stay in touch with the overall world collective and unify our aims and interests so that all is equal and at one with the Universe.

There will be a Full Moon on 30 January with the Sun at 10 degrees of Aquarius and the Moon at 10 degrees of Leo. For some the ego may get in the way of the collective vision of mankind. Try to be more open-minded and offer a helping hand to those in need.

Mars continues to be in retrograde motion up until 10 March 2010. Mars can indicate high energy when moving forward. However during the next few months some may find it more than usually difficult to direct their energies in the manner they wish or they are held back and unable to demonstrate their strength and abilities in a natural way. Anger may build into resentment and some people may inadvertently become their own worst enemy if they are unable to harness the energies adequately. Explosive outbursts may occur at the wrong time and amongst the worst types of people and their scenarios. The automotive industry may be sluggish during this time.

Mercury continues to be in retrograde motion up until 15 January 2010. (See my website for an in-depth comment on this). However briefly, it is a time when people seem to go into an indecisive mode, or they make a decision and then renege on it at a later time. For some though this can be a good period for mental reflection and deep thought to understand what it is that you truly want to do. Often writers are highly productive during this time and some people are able to get lots of paper work done. Some have to re-trace their steps, or send that fax twice, as there are glitches and hitches that can get in the way of clear communications. This is not the time to make major decisions if you can help it. As this influence will last approximately 20 days, it can interfere with plans and arrangements, such as to do with travel, tickets, and time schedules. If you travel to a particular destination during this time, you may later go there again in the future. This can be one of the most rewarding times to reflect on your thoughts, go over any previously laid plans and reassess whether it is exactly what you had in mind. You do not need to actually set things in motion at this time, just do the planning and preparation ready for when Mercury goes direct, in about three weeks time. So check the documents three times, allow for alterations to arise, and then check it all once more for accuracy. However, if you do need to leave a loophole open for further possible changes, then this may actually prove to be a fortunate time to commence a project where there will be no objection to changes you wish to make at a later time.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in January 2010 are:

Tuesday 5 January: Sun conjunct Mercury. This aspect makes some people get really focussed mentally while others just get flustered or frazzled by too much grey matter being stimulated. For those who like a fast pace in their daily routine they will sail ahead smoothly and swiftly. The others will have to do it again probably, and then they will get it right. This is called a combust situation, where a planet is so close to the Sun and the Sun can literally burn up the other planet. This can cause a congestion of information on telephone lines, faxes, e-mails and even face to face communications, where one person is just not hearing the other or cannot seem to reach an agreement or get their heads together on the same issue. Postpone any really important negotiations until a better day. Some people will enjoy a day like this and they will not be agitated by the influx of interruptions or extra communications because they will literally thrive on it. At least they will not have a boring day. The rest of us will be somewhat confused and exhausted by the end of the day and be seeking some quiet time away from the demands of this modern world.

Also today, Mercury conjunct Venus. This tends to incline people towards thoughts of love, harmony and peace. Some will write lengthy declarations of their feelings for the one they adore. Peaceful negotiations are highly likely for those who have the best interests of everyone at heart. A good day to have a celebration, throw a party, go on a special date, get engaged or married. Businesses focussing on communications and the elements of romance will fare well, such as greeting cards offering words of love and friendship. A day of love and poetry and light hearted fun and frivolity. Take time out today to enjoy some lovely music or pleasant scenery and you will be aligning your actions in accord with the romantic and peaceful vibrations of the heavens. Romantic attachments and friendships formed today will be free of jealousy or binding commitments. People will want to be carefree and concerned only with happiness and pleasure. This will assist those who are inclined towards expressing themselves via art or music. Most new friendships formed today may become long lasting, though will also go through many changes. This is a time of light-hearted gaiety, so for maximum benefit, try to visit a scenic spot to indulge the senses and achieve some peace and tranquillity.

Tuesday 12 January: Sun conjunct Venus. This lovely alignment is great for getting married, engaged, starting a new romance, going on a first date, opening or investing in a florist shop, or anything associated with music, art, women's products or decoration of any type. A big party held tonight will go down especially well. This is perhaps one of the better days of the whole year, so go out socialising and see what develops.

Wednesday 13 January: Venus sextile Uranus. Those who dare to be innovative will capture the attention of their audience in a startling and exciting way during this time. Love relationships started today will be different in as many ways as there are stars in the sky. People involved in the arts, musical, beauty or related fields will be very productive and become more creative and inventive than usual. Those who wish to shock the conservative ones will be pleasantly surprised at how well they are actually accepted. The more unique your product or talent that you wish to show or sell will prove highly prosperous. A good day to get married, go on a first date, buy new clothes or throw a party or become involved in any form of entertainment.

Thursday 14 January: Sun sextile Uranus. This is a very electrical kind of day and one that can bring enormous excitement into people’s lives. Be prepared for the unexpected and the unusual and you will not be disappointed. A great day to go exploring, visit a place you have never been to before, start a new and exciting job or business, especially if it is connected to electronics, the Internet or aviation. Some people will come up with some potentially revolutionary ideas today and inventors will be inspired to bring something new and dazzling to the rest of us. New friendships started today will be very different to what you are used to and could literally turn your life around.

Friday 22 January: Venus trine Saturn. This is the type of alignment that suggests a good time for entering into new negotiations, friendships or marriage. Any new business that is involved in the finance industry, or to do with women’s products and services, florists and perfumes will prosper if you can stick it out for the long haul.

Monday 25 January: Sun trine Saturn. This promises to keep the established order of things on the right track. If you wish to impress the boss, or show them how responsible and hard working you are, then choose today to make your move. Choose to be upstanding, conservative and reliable and your efforts will be recognized, perhaps not overnight, but it will happen. Applying for jobs in the public service or other traditional establishments will meet with success if you follow the rules to the T. Dress conservatively, obey orders, be on time, and you will surely rise up the corporate ladder if that is what you are wishing for. People need to know they can rely on you and realise that you are the rock upon which others can lean on for guidance and wisdom. Serious efforts made today will have very long range effects so put some real energy into your endeavors. Be there for the long haul, and success will follow.

The not so favourable days in January 2010 are:

Wednesday 27 January: Venus opposition Uranus. This can throw a spanner in the works or a curve ball your way that you were not anticipating. As this is a not so favourable influence for starting new friendships, relationships of getting married, I would wait for a more opportune blending of heavenly star patterns. If unions are commenced today they may be brief or the person leaves very abruptly with almost no warning. Those who choose today to marry may find themselves in the divorce courts before too long. It is an OK time to have a masquerade party or other social event where people are permitted to let their hair down and be as wild as they wish. Just don’t expect new liaisons to be long-term, nor get involved in financial affairs that have the slightest suggestion of risk.

Saturday 30 January: Sun opposition Mars. Not a day to speed down the highway ignorant of other drivers on the road. Not a good day to travel and, in particular, in any vehicle that will take risks or go too fast. Not a day to even go on a risky amusement park ride as something may just go wrong. This is an accident prone day so do not buy a new car or other machinery, or attempt to cross the road when there is lots of traffic. Some people will go off half cocked and end up red faced if they try stepping on other people’s toes unnecessarily. Someone in power may have some difficult problems to deal with that arises suddenly and has to be resolved without blinking. People will not be patient or feel like waiting around on a day like this.
