Challenge Yourself

General overview for July 2008.

July is going to be another relatively busy month as we have a total of 13 alignments. There are more positive alignments (8) than the not so favourable ones (6). The month starts with an energetic link between Mars and Pluto. Get ready to use up all that pent up energy and do something very constructive with it, or go for a very long walk or perhaps a run if you feel fit and healthy.

As there are some heavy oppositions occurring this month, these tend to bring confrontations of all kinds. So rather than wait for others to challenge you, take it upon yourself to challenge yourself. Dare to do more than you have done before, but with moderation as otherwise you may overcommit and this may then become a drain either physically or emotionally. Each of us basically know what our limits are, and can still make the effort to make even further improvements in our life. Its all up to us.

There are four planets changing signs, namely Mars enters Virgo; Mercury enters Cancer, Venus enters Leo; the Sun enters Leo and then Mercury really speeds up and also enters Leo, in that order.

In chronological order the changes in the heavens this month are: Mars enters Virgo on 2 July; there will be a New Moon at 11 degrees of Cancer on 3 July; Mercury enters Cancer on 11 July; Venus enters Leo on 13 July; there will be a Full Moon on 18 July; the life-giving Sun will enters Leo on 22 July; and lastly Mercury enters Leo on 26 July.

Moving right along...

Mars enters Virgo on 2 July and remains in this sign up until 20 August 2008. This may heat up some debates connected with the health industry including hospitals, retreats or other places of confinement such as prisons, and all associated services they provide. There can easily be angst created wherever aggressive action or threats are displayed. There may also be some severe bushfires or other incidents involving heat or fire.

There will be a New Moon at 11 degrees of Cancer on 3 July. For those who have personal planets at this degree, you may come to understand a new perspective on a current situation and be able to reach into the future with confidence. For some it can spell a turning point in life.

Mercury enters Cancer on 11 July and will remain in this sign up until 26 July 2008. The sign of Cancer is associated with the mother, the womb, home and family matters and our sense of heritage or patriotism to our country. There will be more talk connected to those issues and news reports that focus more than usual on these everyday concerns. Those who are sensitive to criticism will need to strengthen their backbone somewhat, lest hurt feelings are flying all over the place.

Venus enters Leo on 13 July and remains in this sign up until 6 August. If you want to impress someone, perhaps by throwing a huge and lavish party, do it during the next few weeks, and it will be hugely successful. Those who focus on glamour, beauty, fashion, art, music and theatre will be able to harmonise with this transit of Venus in this sign. There may also be some love unions that hit the headlines because of the spectacular entrance they make at a grand occasion. Someone in royalty may declare their love for someone. Those in the entertainment industry will be busy and productive during this time and we may see a focus on romantic movies more than any other style. Some people may tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves.

There will be a Full Moon on 18 July. There could be some clashes of opinion regarding cultural and traditional views around this time. The age gap can also widen and cause barriers when attempting to relate to each other successfully. There may be some insensitivity to the matters the community wish to bring to the attention of people in high places.

The life-giving Sun will enters Leo on 22 July and will remain in this sign one whole calendar month up until 23 August 2008. This can put the spotlight on gold shares, entertainment, parties and big celebratory events involving showbiz and lots of glamorously dressed people out strutting their stuff. Not the time to hide your light under a bushel, but rather put your best threads on and show the world your real talents. Someone in power may become hugely popular during this month long phase and there may also be some spotlight shining more brightly on one of the Royal family. Having fun and enjoying oneself may be the tune during this time.

Mercury enters Leo on 26 July and remains in this sign up until 10 August 2008. This could focus lots of newsy items connected to the television and movie industry or perhaps focussing on matters to do with children and their welfare. An orphanage or children’s hospital may receive more focus or notoriety than usual. A young person from a royal background or who is the child of a famous celebrity or other VIP may also be in the news.

Jupiter will continue its transit of Capricorn and remain in this sign up until 5 January 2009. Now is the time to get serious about our personal lives, our goals and assess what our real responsibilities are, to ourselves and to others. It is a time of planning and preparation for the future. This could also prove to be a fortunate time to invest in the property market, buildings or in any solid and long established company. Taking care of our planet and the environment will also become of paramount importance to many people who will do whatever they can to protect our children and their future on this wonderful planet we call Earth.

Saturn continues its transit of Virgo. This is an earthy, practical and analytical sign. We may see a focus on matters associated with health, hygiene, medicines and all associated medical services. New rules and regulations may be applied to any of these areas, food handling, and also with the military sector. There may be limiting or restrictive conditions put into place with regards to any of the above and medical prescriptions and procedures.

Uranus turned retrograde on 27 June and remains in this phase up until 27 November. Uranus is the inventor and the discoverer of places beyond our imagination. We may try to re-discover how we can tap into our own unique imagination and realise our true potential and capabilities. We may have denied some of the things that could be and now we may investigate and discover what really is possible.

Neptune continues to remain retrograde and stays in this phase up until 2 November 2008. Neptune is the planet of high ideals and illusion. It is also the planet that dissolves situations including ice, icebergs, snow and hail. It can also produce mud slides. This planet was the pivotal planet in the event chart of the landslide in Thredbo. Whilst Jupiter retrograde have seen many of us go through of period of questioning whether we have enough faith to sustain us, Neptune retrograde lead some of us to question our ideals and our views on reality. This is also the planet related to drugs and alcohol. There may be far more people finding secret places to hide their trade, and this will make it harder to track those bringing illegal substances in and out of the various countries.

Pluto re-entered Sagittarius on 14 June and will remain in this sign up until 28 November 2008. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess your current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards life, death, and even sex, to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for your overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, explore your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2008. Pluto will remain in Sagittarius until 27 November 2008. Pluto will retrograde back into Sagittarius for five months starting in June 2008 and then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008.

For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in July 2008 are:

Tuesday 1 July: Mars trine Pluto. A great day to open a gym or get involved in any business or project with the aim of improvement or transformation. A good day to start some home renovations as the energy and ideas will be there. Also a good time to buy a new car, start your own mechanical engineering business or car retailing, or car repair shop. Physical energy will be in abundance so if you want to flex the muscles and enter a marathon run, then go to it.

Sunday 6 July: Mercury trine Neptune. This is a wonderful alignment for us fragile human beings, especially if we wish to tune into the cosmos and see what is really there. This can be a brilliant day to tune in and discover some amazing enlightenment as to our place in the scheme of things. New publications released today will do well, especially if they can incorporate some measure of mystery in their stories. Starting a new book with a focus on the mysteries of the universe, dreams or psychic phenomena will turn out very well. Travel brochures will be eagerly snapped up today and bookings made for overseas destinations with great enthusiasm. The travel industry will have a busy day moving people from A to B in quick succession.

Monday 7 July: Venus trine Uranus. Those who dare to be innovative will capture the attention of their audience in a startling and exciting way during this time. Love relationships started today will be different in as many ways as there are stars in the sky. People involved in the arts, musical, beauty or related fields will be very productive and become more creative and inventive than usual. Those who wish to shock the conservative ones will be pleasantly surprised at how well they are actually accepted. The more unique your product or talent that you wish to show or sell will prove highly prosperous. A good day to get married, go on a first date, buy new clothes or throw a party or become involved in any form of entertainment.

Monday 14 July: Mercury sextile Saturn. This brings the kind of day to get truly focussed and organised, especially with paperwork, telephone calls and any demanding job that requires concentration and attention to detail. Maybe balance the cheque-book or start a new study course. Jobs commenced today may have long term obligations involved so if you are mature and keen to plant the seeds for things to grow slowly yet surely, take some action and get started today. This is also a good time to sit down and do some serious planning for your future. You will feel organised and enjoy the challenge of putting your life in order and meeting your obligations. Any new business proposal can be considered to be worth your effort or investigation.

Tuesday 15 July. Sun trine Uranus. This is a very electrical kind of day and one that can bring enormous excitement into people’s lives. Be prepared for the unexpected and the unusual and you will not be disappointed. A great day to go exploring, visit a place you have never been to before, start a new and exciting job or business, especially if it is connected to electronics, the Internet or aviation. Some people will come up with some potentially revolutionary ideas today and inventors will be inspired to bring something new and dazzling to the rest of us. New friendships started today will be very different to what you are used to and could literally turn your life around.

Wednesday 16 July: Mercury sextile Mars. This is a high energy day on a mental level so people will want to voice their opinions or be vocal about what they consider important. A good day to start a new business that requires huge doses of both intellect and muscle. Also a good time to take a hike, enter a marathon run, or join up with a group of young people to swap ideas on how to get fit and stay healthy. This is also a time to become organised with your filing system, conquer the mountain of paperwork and then let off steam later in the gym for some muscle flexing.

Wednesday 23 July: Mercury trine Uranus. This is a day for the scientists, the astrologers, inventors, pilots and the aviation industry to be highly productive. Flashes of insight are possible for those who are open minded. A great day to launch a product that is original and designed to have some kind of shock appeal. Some people will get the best ideas they have ever come up with so start a brainstorming session today and it will continue well into the evening due to the high mental energy.

Sunday 27 July: Mars trine Jupiter. A wonderful day promising opportunities that will bring growth and abundance to those who put in the time and effort. A good day to start a new business or buy a car or go travelling. Some will take on more than they can handle, but most will be wise with their time and their expectations. The travel industry will be busy and this is a good time to invest in something you have researched previously and now you can take a punt and anticipate that all will end well.

Wednesday 30 July: Sun conjunct Mercury. This aspect makes some people get a good mental focus, while others just get flustered or frazzled by too much grey matter being stimulated. For those who like a fast pace in their daily routine they will sail ahead smoothly and swiftly. The others will have to do it again probably, and then they will get it right. This is called a combust situation, where a planet is so close to the Sun and the Sun can literally burn up the other planet. This can cause a congestion of information on telephone lines, faxes, e-mails and even face to face communications, where one person is just not hearing the other or cannot seem to reach an agreement or get their heads together on the same issue. Postpone any really important negotiations until a better day. Some people will enjoy a day like this and they will not be agitated by the influx of interruptions or extra communications because they will literally thrive on it. At least they will not have a boring day. The rest of us will be somewhat confused and exhausted by the end of the day and be seeking some quiet time away from the demands of this modern world.

The not so favourable days in July 2008 are:

Thursday 3 July: Venus opposition Jupiter. This is not perhaps the worst day in the month, unless you are going shopping with that brand new credit card and get carried away by all the goodies on offer. Things will be over-done and lavish and if you apply this in relation to a party, well at least everyone will have a good time, even if they do eat and drink too much or start some new relationship that seems inappropriate to their status. Weddings held today will be big, brash, boastful and very expensive. Diamond dealers may have a good retail trading day as will businesses selling perfumes, flowers, clothing, jewellery and other items of beauty and adornment.

Saturday 5 July: Mercury square Uranus. A buzzing and electrically charged day so plan your agenda with plenty of room to manoeuvre when the interruptions come in. Many will find themselves mentally exhausted after a day like this and the long hot bath at the end of the day will be truly welcomed before retiring to bed. Some will just thrive though, receiving flashes like bolts of lightening entering their brainwaves. Some will come up with the most amazing insights and new inventions. Keep a pen and paper handy or a tape recorder for all those great ideas to make note of before they get lost in cyberspace. The Internet will go into overdrive too and your inbox could overflow or get blocked in some way due to over use. Plans and travel arrangements can run amok so be prepared and have an alternative route to follow. Accidents will happen for those who are unprepared for changes as they arise. Not the day to buy a computer or any other electrical item. Steer clear of potential hazards such as frayed electrical cords etc. Young people are more at risk than the elderly.

Wednesday 9 July: Sun opposition Jupiter. Not the kind of day to make promises that you later may find hard to keep. So don’t try to talk or discuss philosophical issues with those in positions of power or associated with the legal sector of society. Some human rights may be violated on a day like this. Not the kind of day to be caught up in a big crowd as things can get out of hand and problems arise to do with large gatherings of people, especially near big buildings or law courts. Do not start any new business venture unless you have a lot of capital to back you up when things don’t pan out as much, or as soon as, you had hoped for. I also would not recommend getting married as it may prove to be a heavy burden involving more than you can safely or adequately handle.

Thursday 10 July: Mercury opposition Pluto. This is an aspect that will test those who are trying to push their wares or ideas on others, for resistance will be felt, which could be very subtle and hidden from view. Documents, alarming news and propaganda will claim the mass attention in some way so be alert and read everything thoroughly that you have to sign. Preferably wait for a more fortunate time to commence any new undertaking, especially if it involves taxes, insurance, or other joint monetary ventures. We need to guard against being manipulated or coerced into something we would rather not do. People who insist on digging up old matters from the past will find they cannot heal their wounds just yet, as it is too painful or confronting. There are likely to be many communications that should be mistrusted, whether verbal, e-mail or by letter. Documents may be misleading or have loop holes that are indiscernible. Agreements are unlikely or will be fraught with problems.

Friday 11 July: Mars conjunct Saturn. Not a day to start a new business or new friendship or romantic involvement, nor get married or buy a car or other important machinery for your business. Not the day either to invest money or get involved in foreign affairs or overseas interests. Bide your time in all important matters and do not buy a new home today.

Sunday 20 July: Mercury opposition Jupiter. Big plans made today may not fulfil your initial requirements, further down the road. If you order one hundred of something, it may turn out that you only needed five. The emphasis will be on expansion and learning, but the effort and enthusiasm will be just as big an ask. Commit only to what you are suited to, or else you could find yourself out on a limb in less time that you can say your name. It would be wise not to commit yourself to anything today that could bring you possible legal difficulties further down the road. People will over-commit or take on more than is wise and choke on it all at a later time. People cannot be trusted to do as they say or follow through on obligations.
