L o o k i n g In An Ideal World General overview for March 2006. This month of March brings so many challenges from the heavens, yet some very interesting planetary alignments that can give us some real insight into our future. Overall however, there are nine very helpful planetary alignments this month, compared to only eight negative ones. The Sun will change signs by moving from Pisces to Aries, Mercury will turn retrograde in Pisces, Venus will enter Aquarius, whilst Jupiter turns retrograde in Scorpio, as does Pluto in Sagittarius, at the very end of the month. Astrology is a very complex subject to study, and sometimes I look at my own personal chart and wish I had a very different one. I am sure many people do that. We may see certain challenges and wonder if we are able to tackle them with finesse or just blunder our way through. In an ideal world, our own personal chart would have all the planets in harmony with one another and we could live a peaceful existence. Well, alas, that cannot happen, as each of the planets have their own unique path in the heavens to follow, as we do here on planet Earth. The picture (or natal birth chart) created by the planets in our personal charts is a reflection of what is going on above us. Neither the planets, nor aspects, control our lives. However, they do influence us in many and varied ways, whether we want to believe it or not. There have been many studies of astrology that show why we are attracted to certain professions, certain people and led in the direction that we are now travelling. Yet we still have free-will and make our own choices throughout our lives. What the planets do is just reflect what the consequences will be by the choices we make. The challenge we face is to acknowledge that we control our own destiny. The birth chart appears to reflect that very specifically.
Now down to the specifics……………… On Saturday 18 February Mars entered Gemini and will remain in that sign up until 15 April. During this time some people may enjoy debating and or even arguing, just for arguments sake. There may be some distress associated with twin births during this time. News generally will be relayed in a hurry and for those who rush headlong into battle, the throng will be vicious, especially verbally. Avoid noisy crowds or people bragging or making trouble for themselves. News items will focus on people in groups, demonstrators and those who wish to be heard, despite how aggravating it may be for the audience. On Friday 3 March, the nimble messenger Mercury turns retrograde, and remains in this phase up until 25 March 2006. I will quote again from previous articles how we mere mortals are influenced by this phenomena. (See my feature article on my website for an in-depth comment on this). However briefly, it is a time when people seem to go into an indecisive mode, or they make a decision and then renege on it at a later time. For some though this can be a good period for mental reflection and deep thought to understand what it is that you truly want to do. Often writers are highly productive during this time and some people are able to get lots of paper work done. Some have to re-trace their steps, or send that fax twice, as there are glitches and hitches that can get in the way of clear communications. This is not the time to make major decisions if you can help it. As this influence will last approximately 24 days, it can interfere with plans and arrangements, such as to do with travel, tickets, and time schedules. If you travel to a particular destination during this time, you may later go there again in the future. This can be one of the most rewarding times to reflect on your thoughts, go over any previously laid plans and reassess whether it is exactly what you had in mind. You do not need to actually set things in motion at this time, just do the planning and preparation ready for when Mercury goes direct, which will be on 25 March 2006. So check those important documents three times, allow for alterations to arise, and then check it all once more for accuracy. However, if you do need to leave a loophole open for further possible changes, then this may actually prove to be a fortunate time to commence a project where there will be no objection to changes you wish to make at a later time. Also today Venus enters Aquarius and will remain in this sign up until 6 April 2006. This could bring an attempt at peaceful negotiations if those ‘powers that be’ can lift themselves high enough to visualise the greater good for the world and those who live here. There may also be some sensational news regarding love affairs, romance and marriages that seem to arise out of unusual situations, or between people of very different backgrounds, cultures or age groups. Alliances and romances will be formed that seem to have something different or unique about them and they will prove to be the talk of the town. Some people will take the huge step from long term friendship to romance, taking themselves and each other by surprise. This is also a good time to start a new fashion house focussing on the out of the ordinary and the use of original ideas. On Monday 6 March Jupiter turns retrograde and will remain in this phase up until 6 July 2006. This I feel will reflect in many and varied way according to your own unique position and beliefs about life. Jupiter has rulership over faith. This could prove to be a time when some of us will question our faith and whether it is strong enough to sustain us in trying times. The recent earthquake in Bam in Iran would have to be one of those disasters, where those who are affected, would question why this has happened to them. The beliefs may undergo scrutiny and re-assessment. Some may feel they can no longer believe what they have always believed and may have a change of heart about how they will now view their lives. Jupiter also has to do with the courts and the justice system, so here again there may be some long drawn out situations, or perhaps a decision is made that is challenged by many who disagree with the initial outcome. Some people may want the justice system changed to incorporate capital punishment, and whether this is a wise choice or not, is not for me to decide. We could also see further incidents to do with the issues surrounding euthanasia and other matters associated with death, our mortality rate, taxes, insurance and all other inevitable matters come under scrutiny due to the influence of Jupiter in Scorpio. Wednesday 15 March produces a Full Moon with the Sun at 24 degrees Pisces and the Moon at 24 degrees of Virgo. As these are both highly sensitive signs, the clash may bring out a sense of touchiness or emotional outbursts to the fore. Some will be particularly thin skinned when it comes to criticism, so tread gently with the kind and friendly folk on the planet. Make the best use of this time by attending to projects requiring both imagination and precision. The life-giving Sun will move into Aries on Tuesday 21 March and remain in this sign for one whole calendar month. This can be a time of high energy for many and the enthusiasm is there to start new projects. Some though may only start things and never finish them. Motor car racing may be in the news and athletes associated with various sporting industries. Accidents are more likely for those who rush or speed around so care needs to be taken to slow down to stop and smell the roses. Someone in power may make some rash or hasty decisions during this month long stay. On Sunday 26 March we witness Mercury turning direct at thirteen degrees of Pisces so if you have any personal points at that degree, some information may come to light regarding the area of life that Mercury rules in your own personal chart. Generally speaking, when Mercury moves back into direct motion things start to pick up speed, especially if they have recently undergone alterations or delays of any kind. Communications get back to normal, people will finally return your phone calls and the fax machine decides to work yet again, finally! Plans that had been put on hold, or holiday arrangements may now seem to flow a little smoother. You can safely trust that your thought processes are once again back on track and not as changeable as they have been recently. On Wednesday 29 March there will be a New Moon at eight degrees of Aries. This can signal a time to challenge us to do our best, attempt to reach the goal first and to energise ourselves into putting more effort into what we want to start, and eventually complete. It is the natural time (annually) to try to make a new start and unify our energies, mind and muscles into action for the coming year. Also today Pluto will turn retrograde and remain in this phase up until 4 September 2006. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess you current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards, life, death, and even sex to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for you overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, go exploring your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2006. Pluto will remain in Sagittarius until 27 November 2008. Pluto will retrograde back into Sagittarius for five months starting in June 2008 and then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008. For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception. Jupiter will continue to remain in mutual reception with Pluto all through March, right up until late November 2006.
Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity. Wednesday 1 March: Mercury sextile Venus. This tends to incline people towards thoughts of love, harmony and peace. Some will write lengthy declarations of their feelings for the one they adore. Peaceful negotiations are highly likely for those who have the best interests of everyone at heart. A good day to have a celebration, throw a party, go on a special date, get engaged or married. Businesses focussing on communications and the elements of romance will fare well, such as greeting cards offering words of love and friendship. A day of love and poetry and light hearted fun and frivolity. Take time out today to enjoy some lovely music or pleasant scenery and you will be aligning your actions in accord with the romantic and peaceful vibrations of the heavens. Romantic attachments and friendships formed today will be free of jealousy or binding commitments. People will want to be carefree and concerned only with happiness and pleasure. Also today: Mars sextile Saturn. This can be productive for the automotive industry or any other industry involved with machinery of all types. Those who make long term investments, especially those involving the real estate business will profit from this further down the track. If you can keep your nose to the grindstone, your abilities and efforts will be recognised by those in authority over you. Perseverance, dedication and endurance are the qualities that can be drawn from this alignment so put them to good use while you can. Your energies will be backed by your determination to plod on until you reach success. Just to top it off, also today: Sun conjunct Uranus. Do not count on things going as planned today, for every little hiccup can magnify and throw your life into chaos. Air travel may be disrupted or exceptionally busy and mistakes are likely to occur that interfere with the way you had wanted things to go. Have a plan B ready as more than likely you will need it. Sudden, unexpected events can occur quite rapidly and prevent an easy flow of ideas and plans. Avoid rebellious people and eccentrics as they can play havoc with your routines or your way of life. Someone in power may have their status changed or they suffer an unexpected fall. (Please note that there is also a clash between Mercury and Pluto today). Friday 10 March. Sun trine Jupiter. This is a beautiful alignment of the life-giving Sun with expansive Jupiter. It can provide us with the inspiration and faith to get any new endeavour under way with enthusiasm and sincerity of purpose. Open an entertainment centre or have a huge banquet or festival then and it will go off like a rocket to the Moon. This is also a good day to get married, start new friendships and any project involved with gold, glamour or places of amusement or the publishing industry. It is also one of the better kind of planetary times to commence just about anything that is important to you. A new store or business opening today would do well if the focus is on books, publishing, the travel industry or to do with the law. If you strive for success on a day like this you are likely to achieve your goal. This is also a good time to start an overseas holiday. Sunday 12 March: Sun conjunct Mercury. This is called a combust situation, where a planet is so close to the Sun that the Sun can literally burn up the other planet. This can cause a congestion of information on telephone lines, faxes, e-mails and even face to face communications, where one person is just not hearing the other or cannot seem to reach an agreement or get their heads together on the same issue. Postpone any really important negotiations until a better day. Those who are fast paced mentally will enjoy a day like this and they will not be agitated by the influx of interruptions or extra communications because they will literally thrive on it. At least they will not have a boring day. The rest of us will be somewhat frazzled by the end of the day and be seeking some quiet time away from the demands of this modern world. As this conjunction occurs in the sign of Pisces, there may be some magical or mystical issues in the news or to do with make-believe or tales of mystery. Wednesday 15 March: Mercury trine Jupiter. This angle promises those who strive to see the bigger picture will do so and teach those who listen how to find it themselves. A great day to start a holiday or travel to places previously unseen. This could prove to be a great day to start writing a new book, open a book store or one associated with the travel industry. People will generally tend to be liberal and broad-minded in their thinking and approach to life. Also a favourable day to start teaching, lecturing or writing a lengthy project. The area of communications and information will be busy and any business started today that connects with these will fare well. This is a good time for negotiations and for getting your message across. The advertising and news media areas will be highly productive. There could be a merger between two large organisations, companies or countries, that can benefit everyone involved. Expansion is the key-word for the day, so plan to make this as positive a time as possible. A busy day for the travel industry and the Internet. Saturday 25 March: Sun trine Saturn. This angle promises to keep the established order of things on the right track. If you wish to impress the boss, or show them how responsible and hard working you are, then choose today to make your move. Choose to be upstanding, conservative and reliable and your efforts will be recognised, perhaps not overnight, but it will happen. Applying for jobs in the public service or other traditional establishment will meet with success if you follow the rules to the T. Dress conservatively, obey orders, be on time, and you will surely rise up the corporate ladder if this is what you are wishing for. People need to know that they can rely on you and know that you are the rock upon which others lean on for guidance and wisdom. Various efforts made today can have very long range effects so put some real effort into your endeavours, and if you can be there for the long haul, success will follow. Sunday 26 March: Mars trine Neptune. This one is brilliant for putting your head together with another for inspiration. As Mars rules the head and Neptune rules the imagination, much can be gained by taking some time out to receive some insight into a situation you had been trying to fathom. Energy directed positively and with great clarity will bring many rewards. This would be a favourable time to put your idealistic intentions into action. This alignment can be used positively by those who are wise, and on a personal level, if we wish to tune into the Cosmos today, some of us may be witness to some amazing revelations on how we can all live in unity and where our future is heading on a spiritual level. Some will be given the gift of great clarity of vision and be able to tap into the avenues for success, or their definition of it. Also today: Venus conjunct Neptune. This is just wonderful for a first date, getting engaged or married or throwing a huge party or other social gathering. If you utilise the themes of the ocean, romantic or magical effects, the outcome will be truly fascinating for all those who participate. Musicians, artists and poets will be in their element with their thoughts and imagination flowing freely and inspired by the mystical aspects of the Universe. A good day to open a business focussing on the elements of beauty, flowers, crystals, perfumes and women’s products. This could be a heavenly day. Some people may be lucky enough to find their soul-mate. This is a magical time and will colour over all misgivings and produce a haze of wonder and delight that will leave you gasping. New friendships or romances commenced today seem idyllic and will restore your faith in humanity. People generally will appear to be more caring and compassionate. A day when everything looks beautiful and inspirational. An ocean journey would be quite pleasurable to the senses or any other similar beautiful scenic location. A wisp of magical stardust will drift down from the heavens and gloss over today, inclining some romantic types to fall in love. The Sun will rise before you even had the chance to put out the candle lights. Monday 27 March: Venus trine Mars. Those in the business of selling will have a field day if they use the methods of ‘sex sells’ at this time. The seductive elements between these planets can be wielded on an innocent public who will actually lap it up like a pussycat with a bowl of milk. A good day to get married, engaged, go on a first date or start a business involved in capturing the imagination of those who are interested in what attracts one to another. Items such as perfumes and aftershaves will sell well today, or any other item that lures people to one another. The not so favourable days in March 2006 are:
Wednesday 1 March: Mercury square Pluto. This is an aspect that will test those who are trying to push their wares or ideas on others, for resistance will be felt, which could be very subtle and hidden from view. Documents, alarming news and propaganda will claim the mass attention in some way so be alert and read everything thoroughly that you have to sign. Preferably wait for a more fortunate time to commence any new undertaking, especially if it involves taxes, insurance, or other joint monetary ventures. We need to guard against being manipulated or coerced into something we would rather not do. People who insist on digging up old matters from the past will find they cannot heal their wounds just yet, as it is too painful or confronting. There are likely to by many communications that should be mistrusted, whether verbal, e-mail or by letter. Documents may be misleading or have loop holes that are indiscernible. Agreements are unlikely or will be fraught with problems. (Please also note the three other helpful planetary alignments today). Saturday 11 March: Venus opposition Saturn. Not a good day to get married, start a new relationship or go on a first date. Any one of these will be productive of delays, limitations or burdens and other difficulties that will be hard to overcome. People will tend to be hard to reach or fathom or understand. Barriers that tend to divide will be more noticeable than usual. Do not start a new business today, especially if it involves women’s products, beauty, music or the arts. Not a good day to try to reach amicable agreements, especially with those near and dear to you. Some will tend to become disappointed in a big way. The air is filled with distance and coldness so don’t attempt to make up with your lover if you have had a fight, as they will not want to hear your plight and may just turn their back and walk the other way. Friendships and new romances will not get off to a good start and may involve heavy responsibilities later on or you find out you have to look after them more than is healthy. Not a good day to start a new business as the setbacks and delays may curtail your freedom and not be worth the effort applied. Sunday 12 March: Mars square Uranus. This is highly explosive and accident prone so do not start out on any new journey or buy a car today. Try to avoid working with heavy machinery or electrical items as there is likely to be something go horribly wrong. Plans will be unsettled and errors likely to arise quite unexpectedly. Take your time if people start to get pushy or forceful. Riots can develop easily so avoid large gatherings or people who are out to start a fight. Do not make any particularly personal decisions today as this could be fraught with problems and dangerous conditions. (Please also note the helpful Sun/Mercury alignment today). Thursday 16 March: Jupiter square Neptune. This is a difficult alignment. These energies have been brewing for a week or so and will continue for another week or two as well. Despite the negative connotation of this aspect, this could in fact turn out to be a positive alignment if those amongst us are able to rise above the mundane and see the higher octave of the true meaning of life and our purpose in it. However, we are not all so highly or finely tuned and therefore it can be a time of trials and tribulations productive of errors, or expectations magnified out of all proportion and leading us to misjudgements and flawed reasoning. There will be a feeling of having our faith tested, yet again, and those who are not strong in mind, will start to wilt and crack under the pressure. What appears to be a heroic or wise deed, may turn out to be a totally fraudulent and/or wasteful exercise. Liars, cheats and con men will be out in full force so tread warily and trust no-one at face value and even question those you do know well, just in case there was an oversight or there is some misunderstanding that can produce problems later on. Fuel prices may go through the roof or there are problems connected with these or with the shipping and travel industries. Friday 17 March: Sun square Pluto. This is potentially a highly volatile and explosive angle that can erupt from out of nowhere and create chaos and ruin for those who take chances with their lives and their safety. A VIP or other person of high standing may take a fall or be held accountable for some misdeed from their past. Any secrets that are buried may be re-surfaced and exposed for all to see. This will be an ugly time for some, as the underworld elements of this can be exposed and create unpleasant situations for people to try to extract themselves from what they are involved in. Not a good day to buy a car, go into business, get married, engaged or start a new job, friendship or other personal decisions that can reflect on oneself at a later time. Be careful who you associate with and do not trust strangers. Alleyways and dark places should be avoided like the plague. Sunday 19 March: Mercury square Mars. This is not the day to buy a new car, start a new business or take on more than you can handle. Some people may make hasty or rash decisions, and will wish they hadn't very soon after. Some people may stretch the brawn or the brain, or both, and end up with sore muscles or a headache. I would not advise starting a long road or rail journey. The news may not be what we want to hear and bad news tends to travel fast on days like this too. Also don't expect people to be patient or tolerant today and do not attempt to reach amicable agreements as people just won't be in the mood, or just too rushed to listen. Some people may not take enough care with their speech, taking one foot out of the mouth only to replace it with the other foot just as quickly. Saturday 25 March: Venus square Jupiter. This is not perhaps the worst day in the month, unless you are going shopping with that brand new credit card and get carried away by all the goodies on offer. Things will be over-done and lavish and if you apply this in relation to a party, well at least everyone will have a good time, even if they do eat and drink too much or start some new relationship that seems inappropriate to their status. Weddings held today will be big, brash, boastful and very expensive. Diamond dealers may have a good retail trading day as will businesses selling perfumes, flowers, clothing, jewellery and other items of beauty and adornment.
