What More Do You Want?

General overview for May 2006.

This month of May is very active with both Mercury and Venus moving quickly through the signs of the zodiac, shifting our thoughts, and sense of harmony into different areas. Mercury starts off in Aries, then quickly moves through Taurus and lastly enters its own sign of Gemini 10 days before the month is out. Venus starts off in Pisces, then moves into Aries and lastly enters its own sign of Taurus right at the end of the month.

Overall however, there are fourteen very helpful planetary alignments this month, compared to only seven negative ones. The Sun will change signs by moving from Taurus to Gemini, Mercury will move signs from Aries to Taurus, Venus will enter Aries early in the month and later move into Taurus, and lastly Neptune will turn retrograde in Aquarius.

Last month I posed the question “what do I want?”. I came to realise that I had wished for a lot in life and managed to experience quite a lot too. There were other things that I wished for that I would like to elaborate on. I wanted to be an astrologer. Been there, still doing that. I wanted to be a secretary. Been there done that too. I wanted to write books. Done that too, and plan to write much, much more. I wanted to work on radio. Done that, still doing that too. Starting to get my drift? So my question now is you what is it that you want, or rather, “what more do you want?”. Are your heading in that direction or just drifting along aimlessly? Have your wishes been granted? What have you aimed for and evetually realised? I would be most interested to hear what you have to say.

Now down to the specifics………………

On Wednesday 3 May 2006 Venus will enter Aries and remain in this sign until 29 May. This can generally mean a bonus time for hairdressers, when everyone wants to make their head (and any hair on it) look better. The hairdressing industry may have a boom time and find they are in the spotlight for some reason. If you want to make a good impression on someone, make sure your grooming is perfect, or forget it. We may witness many and varied new romances that can start quickly and go very swiftly and hastily through the motions towards a quick end. Dynamic sales pitches that involve appealing to the senses and to physical attraction, passion and romance can catch public attention at this time. The fashion industry may take on a bold and daring tone so be prepared for colourful, full-on and striking displays. Social gatherings that incorporate much glitter and glamour and sparkle will be successful. Artists and musicians can be highly productive during this time.

On Saturday 6 May Mercury will enter Taurus and remain in this sign up until 19 May. This will see a focus on financial matters, financial institutions such as banks and building societies and interest rates. The positives are that some people can use this time for serious mental concentration and get things done if they plod away long enough. Thoughts of stabilisation will be uppermost in various people’s minds. Someone connected with the arts may be in the news and receiving lots of attention. The negatives are that some will become opinionated and stubborn in their thinking and unable to move beyond their philosophical boundaries that are set in concrete. Some people will be immovable and unshakeable from their roots or their home turf.

There will be a Full Moon on Saturday 13 May with the Sun at 22 degrees Taurus and the Moon at 22 degrees Scorpio. This is an intense Full Moon and one that may incline some people to dig in their heels and be literally immovable. Flexibility is unlikely, though highly recommended to bear in mind at this time. Possessions, one’s own and that of others may be a serious theme today.

On Saturday 20 May Mercury will enter its own sign of Gemini and remain there up until 3 June 2006. Mercury, the nimble planet is very happy being in this sign as this is an air sign and Mercury is the great communicator. We may see more emphasis on people stating their views and opinions, regardless of whether anyone is really listening. There may be an emphasis on twins and Siamese twins being born especially between 20 May and 3 June 2006. Communications and the Internet will thrive and everyone wants to have a say about something, even if it is just meaningless chatter. The flexibility however associated with this combination can mean the decisions and actions change with the wind flow. Time can be wasted going over needless details more than once. Paperwork will seem to pile into mountains and people get RSI signing their name.

On Sunday 21 May the Sun will enter Gemini and remain in this sign one whole calendar month up until 21 June 2006. During this time there will be emphasis on communications, doing things in two’s and there could even be some significant births of twins during this time that is in the news. Even Siamese twins may occur more than usual. The communications industry will be in full swing and some people speaking before they put their brain into gear. Games and puzzles will be sought after and sales increases in these areas or to do with prankish ideas and themes.

On Monday 22 June Neptune will turn retrograde and remain in this phase up until almost the end of October 2006. Neptune is the planet of high ideals and elusion. It is also the planet that dissolves situations including ice, icebergs, snow and hail. It can also produce mud slides. This planet was the pivotal planet in the event chart of the landslide in Thredbo. Whilst Jupiter retrograde may have seen many of us go through of period of questioning whether we have enough faith to sustain us, Neptune retrograde may lead some of us to question our ideals and our views on reality. This is also the planet related to drugs and alcohol. There may be far more people finding secret places to hide their trade, and this will make it harder to track those bringing illegal substances in and out of the various countries.

There will be a New Moon at 5 degrees of Gemini on Saturday 27 May. This may incline some to want to be very vocal about emotional and personal issues. We may find ourselves involved in lengthy meetings on a day like this.

Venus is on the move again this month and will enter its own sign of Taurus on Monday 29 May and remain in this sign up until 24 June 2006. This is a time when most will be focussing on the comforts of life and the material issues that affect us on a day to day basis. People will be looking for stability and safety connected to their resources. The musical and arts centres will be in focus as well as items of beauty, furnishings and all women’s products. A particularly good time to put your money into investments that centre around these products or services. There will be a particular announcement made this month concerning a love affair that will be put on more solid footing. Perhaps someone in a high position or connected to royalty makes an engagement announcement!

Jupiter continues to remain retrograde and will remain in this phase up until 6 July 2006. This I feel will reflect in many and varied way according to your own unique position and beliefs about life. Jupiter has rulership over faith. This could prove to be a time when some of us will question our faith and whether it is strong enough to sustain us in trying times. The earthquake in Bam in Iran would have to be one of those disasters, where those who are affected, would question why this has happened to them. The beliefs may undergo scrutiny and re-assessment. Some may feel they can no longer believe what they have always believed and may have a change of heart about how they will now view their lives. Jupiter also has to do with the courts and the justice system, so here again there may be some long drawn out situations, or perhaps a decision is made that is challenged by many who disagree with the initial outcome. Some people may want the justice system changed to incorporate capital punishment, and whether this is a wise choice or not, is not for me to decide. We could also see further incidents to do with the issues surrounding euthanasia and other matters associated with death, our mortality rate, taxes, insurance and all other inevitable matters come under scrutiny due to the influence of Jupiter in Scorpio.

Pluto continues to be retrograde and remain in this phase up until 4 September 2006. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess you current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards, life, death, and even sex to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for you overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, go exploring your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2006. Pluto will remain in Sagittarius until 27 November 2008. Pluto will retrograde back into Sagittarius for five months starting in June 2008 and then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008.

For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception. Jupiter will continue to remain in mutual reception with Pluto all through May, right up until late November 2006.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in May 2006 are:

Wednesday 3 May: Mercury trine Pluto. This would be a good day for private investigators or the Police to go digging for information to shed some light on a previously hidden problem. Archaeologists too could have a field day and uncover treasures they had been searching for for years. Egypt may suddenly seem a great place to be. Any type of exploratory works or projects now will reveal something previously out of view. Writers can get focussed and produce good works.

Thursday 4 May: Sun sextile Uranus. This is a very electrical kind of day and one that can bring enormous excitement into people’s lives. Be prepared for the unexpected and the unusual and you will not be disappointed. A great day to go exploring, visit a place you have never been to before, start a new and exciting job or business, especially if it is connected to electronics, the Internet or aviation. Some people will come up with some potentially revolutionary ideas today and inventors will be inspired to bring something new and dazzling to the rest of us. New friendships started today will be very different to what you are used to and could literally turn your life around.

Friday 5 May: Jupiter trine Uranus. This is an exceptionally positive alignment where we are able to embrace the bigger picture through different eyes. Some inventors out there may make some amazing discoveries and bring to the world some ideas that will literally blow us away. Travel will be exciting and very adventurous during this time. We can start our lives over with a new point of view if we choose to do so. (Please also note the clash between the Sun and Jupiter today).

Sunday 7 May: Mars trine Jupiter. Another wonderful day promising opportunities that will bring growth and abundance to those who put in the time and effort. A good day to start a new business or buy a car or go travelling. Some will take on more than they can handle, but most will be wise with their time and their expectations. The travel industry will be busy and this is a good time to invest in something you have researched previously and now you can take a punt and anticipate that all will end well.

Monday 8 May: Mars trine Uranus and Venus trine Saturn. (Please also note the clash between Mercury and Saturn today).

Firstly, Mars trine Uranus. This is a combination that is electrifying and exciting. There will be some amazing stories in the news and those who seek to surprise and shock will capture the most attention. A great day to buy a new car, an aeroplane if you can afford one, or start an automotive business or even an electronics store. Inventive and original ideas, as well as using your initiative will be pay dividends, especially if you put some extra energy into your endeavours.

Secondly, Venus trine Saturn. This is the type of alignment that suggests a good time for entering into new negotiations, friendships or marriage. New businesses involved in the finance industry, or to do with women’s products and services, florists and perfumes will prosper if you can stick it out for the long haul.

Friday 12 May: Mercury sextile Uranus. This is a day for the scientists, the astrologers, inventors, pilots and the aviation industry to be highly productive. Flashes of insight are possible for those who are open minded. A great day to launch a product that is original and designed to have some kind of shock appeal. Some people will get the best ideas they have ever come up with so start a brainstorming session today and it will continue well into the evening due to the high mental energy. (Please also note the clash between Mercury and Jupiter today).

Sunday 14 May: Mercury sextile Mars. This is a high energy day on a mental level so people will want to voice their opinions or be vocal about what they consider important. A good day to start a new business that requires huge doses of both intellect and muscle. Also a good time to take a hike, enter a marathon run, or join up with a group of young people to swap ideas on how to get fit and stay healthy. This is also a time to become organised with your filing system, conquer the mountain of paperwork and then let off steam later in the gym for some muscle flexing.

Friday 19 May: Sun conjunct Mercury. This is called a combust situation, where a planet is so close to the Sun that the Sun can literally burn up the other planet. This can cause a congestion of information on telephone lines, faxes, e-mails and even face to face communications, where one person is just not hearing the other or cannot seem to reach an agreement or get their heads together on the same issue. Postpone any really important negotiations until a better day. Those who are fast paced mentally will enjoy a day like this and they will not be agitated by the influx of interruptions or extra communications because they will literally thrive on it. At least they will not have a boring day. The rest of us will be somewhat frazzled by the end of the day and be seeking some quiet time away from the demands of this modern world. As this conjunction occurs in the sign of Taurus, there may be more of an emphasis on doing good works and being practical and methodical in one’s approach to life.

Sunday 21 May: Venus sextile Neptune. This is just wonderful for a first date, getting engaged or married or throwing a huge party or other social gathering. If you utilise the themes of the ocean, romantic or magical effects the outcome will be truly fascinating for all those who participate. Musicians, artists and poets will be in their element and thoughts and the imagination flowing freely and inspired by the mystical aspects of the Universe. A good day to open a business focussing on the elements of beauty, flowers, crystals, perfumes and women’s products.

Tuesday 23 May: Mercury sextile Saturn. This brings the kind of day to get truly focussed and organised, especially with paperwork, telephone calls and any demanding job that requires concentration and attention to detail. Maybe balance the cheque-book or start a new study course. Jobs commenced today may have long term obligations involved so if you are mature and keen to plant the seeds for things to grow slowly yet surely, take some action and get started today. This is also a good time to sit down and do some serious planning for your future. You will feel organised and enjoy the challenge of putting your life in order and meeting your obligations. Any new business proposal can be considered to be worth your effort or investigation.

Friday 26 May: Venus trine Pluto. This is a magnificent combination and can produce a great day for those seeking true love. I adore this kind of planetary formation. If you should happen to meet a new lover today you will be radically changed overnight. This new person will seem magnetic and passionate. You may feel you have been put under a spell, and in a way you are right. This influence is deep, hypnotic and highly sexual, so expect to go into a relationship and become totally and intimately involved and very quickly too. This is also a good day to get married, start a new business enterprise, especially if it involves regeneration themes, getting fit or to do with women’s products and services.

Sunday 28 May: Sun sextile Saturn. This promises to keep the established order of things on the right track. If you wish to impress the boss, or show them how responsible and hard working you are, then choose today to make your move. Choose to be upstanding, conservative and reliable and your efforts will be recognized, perhaps not overnight, but it will happen. Applying for jobs in the public service or other traditional establishment will meet with success if you follow the rules to the T. Dress conservatively, obey orders, be on time, and you will surely rise up the corporate ladder if that is what you are wishing for. People need to know they can rely on you and realise that you are the rock upon which others can lean on for guidance and wisdom. Serious efforts made today will have very long range effects so put some real energy into your endeavors. Be there for the long haul, and success will follow.

Monday 29 May: Mercury trine Neptune. This is a wonderful alignment for us fragile human beings, especially if we wish to tune into the cosmos and see what is really there. This can be a brilliant day to tune in and discover some amazing enlightenment as to our place in the scheme of things. New publications released today will do well, especially if they can incorporate some measure of mystery in their stories. Starting a new book with a focus on the mysteries of the universe, dreams or psychic phenomena will turn out very well. Travel brochures will be eagerly snapped up today and bookings made for overseas destinations with great enthusiasm. The travel industry will have a busy day moving people from A to B in quick succession.

The not so favourable days in May 2006 are:

Friday 5 May: Sun opposition Jupiter. Not the kind of day to make promises that you later may find hard to keep. So don’t try to talk or discuss philosophical issues with those in positions of power or associated with the legal sector of society. Some human rights may be violated on a day like this. Not the kind of day to be caught up in a big crowd as things can get out of hand and problems arise to do with large gatherings of people, especially near big buildings or law courts. Do not start any new business venture unless you have a lot of capital to back you up when things don’t pan out as much, or as soon as, you had hoped for. I also would not recommend getting married as it may prove to be a heavy burden involving more than you can safely or adequately handle.(Please also note the helpful Jupiter/Uranus angle today).

Monday 8 May: Mercury square Saturn. This is not the day to make agreements as they may involve regulations and obligations that tie you up in knots. There could be some serious decisions made that affect people long after the present. The Mercurial influence could be darkened by sombre Saturn’s habit of making it difficult to see eye to eye and reach amicable agreements about any of these matters. However, those who are wise can instruct those who are not. Those who refuse to take a wider view will only alienate themselves from a comfortable position and find themselves on the other side of the wall. This though can be a good day for serious study. It is not good for purchasing land or other real estate. If you do, then make sure there are no potential problems to do with dampness or rising water levels in the area.(Please also note the helpful Mars/Uranus angle and the Venus/Saturn angle today).

Thursday 11 May: Sun square Neptune. Not the day to trust strangers, get involved in any project you know little about or to be trusting even with those whom you thought would never deceive you. Con artists will flourish today so make sure you know all the facts about someone before you even dare hand over a dollar of your hard earned income to them. There could be a big drug haul occur today and they may even get away with it, unless of course an insider wants to get them busted for a previous indiscretion involving a matter of trust that went badly wrong. Don’t get married today or start any new business for there will be hidden traps for the unwary or the gullible. This alignment is potentially very secretive and people are prone to be susceptible to major confusion. Some who are into swindling and scams will pull the wool over the eyes of those who are gullible and take everything at face value. There will be wolves hiding beneath sheep’s clothing. There will be many who will camouflage their true colours, so for those who are wearing blinkers, you may suffer at their hands. To put it simply, as I have said before, trust everyone, but cut the cake yourself. Drugs may be found in unlikely places or hidden by people whom you would not suspect. Just remember, no-one should be above reproach. Beware of danger or problems near the ocean, gas, oil wells, and take care that there is nothing contaminating your food or drinks. Poisoning can occur for the unwary. Friendships formed today need to pass the test of time before people are considered trustworthy. Someone in power may be on an ego trip and try to call someone's bluff on a major issue. Do not trust strangers or any new kids on the block, so to speak.

Friday 12 May: Mercury opposition Jupiter. Big plans made today may not fulfill your initial requirements, further down the road. If you order one hundred of something, it may turn out that you only needed five. The emphasis will be on expansion and learning, but the effort and enthusiasm will be just as big an ask. Commit only to what you are suited to, or else you could find yourself out on a limb in less time that you can say your name. It would be wise not to commit yourself to anything today that could bring you possible legal difficulties further down the road. People will over-commit or take on more than is wise and choke on it all at a later time. People cannot be trusted to do as they say or follow through on obligations. (Please also not the helpful Mercury/Uranus angle today).

Monday 15 May: Mercury square Neptune. This is one of those potentially deceitful days when people can easily colour over their mistakes and present a picture that is marred inside and out, if you would only lift the veil of elusion to view the ugly and distorted truth. It is wise not to sign any important documents on a day like this as there will be more loopholes than found in a fish-net. Those who generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt will prove to be the most vulnerable. Do not believe all you read or hear today as there will be lies and deception running rampant.

Wednesday 24 May: Venus square Mars. This is a contentious aspect between Venus, the planet of love and harmony, and Mars, the God of War. This can be highly problematic when it comes to relationships. Men and women will generally speaking not see eye to eye, or they both have a totally different agenda. This is not a good day to have a first date, get engaged or married. There is too much potential discord and people only seeing the physical or exterior of each other rather than the true personality. Physical attraction will be the name of the game so if you are the sensitive, emotional and romantic kind, do not get involved with a new partner around this time as this is definitely not the roses and candlelight aspect. This is more than likely going to bring about hot and steamy encounters that often are not long lasting, though they can be if each person is highly evolved and mature. Advertising aimed at seductive techniques though could be highly rewarding and capture the necessary sexual fantasies of those who are vulnerable to such luring promises.

Friday 26 May: Mercury square Uranus. A buzzing and electrically charged day so plan your agenda with plenty of room to manoeuvre when the interruptions come in. Many will find themselves mentally exhausted after a day like this and the long hot bath at the end of the day will be truly welcomed before retiring to bed. Some will just thrive though, receiving flashes like bolts of lightening entering their brainwaves. Some will come up with the most amazing insights and new inventions. Keep a pen and paper handy or a tape recorder for all those great ideas to make note of before they get lost in cyberspace. The Internet will go into overdrive too and your inbox could overflow or get blocked in some way due to over use. Plans and travel arrangement can run amok so be prepared and have an alternative route to follow. Accidents will happen for those who are unprepared for changes as they arise. Not the day to buy a computer or any other electrical item. Steer clear of potential hazards such as frayed electrical cords etc. Young people are more at risk than the elderly. (Please also note the helpful Venus/Pluto angle today).
