Planetary Intensity

General overview for October 2006.

This month of October is going to be a very active one, and towards the end of the month, when we have the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter all in the deep sign of Scorpio we will feel this particular planetary intensity. This will mainly occur between 25 October and 17 November. There will be one day however, that may stand out, and that is Tuesday 24 October when the Moon will also add to this intensity by also being in Scorpio. We can anticipate passionate, energetic expressions of feelings, some of which may border on obsessive and jealous behaviour that is overwhelming for some of us fragile human beings to handle. Death, rebirth, decay and the rising of the Phoenix are all possible scenarios. Take care not to push your intentions today as this may lead to serious resentments and disputes. My feelings are that this ‘planetary intensity’ in Scorpio may lead to some cold blooded murders of passion. Yikes, did I say that?????

Moving right along……………………….

There are 12 helpful planetary alignments, and one that can go either way, compared to only 3 not so helpful ones. This is going to be a month where we can make many positive changes in our lives, provided we are prepared to be more considerate of other peoples feelings.

In chronological order there are various changes in the heavens this month and they are: Mercury enters Scorpio on 2 October; there will be a Full Moon on Saturday 7 October; there will be a New Moon on Sunday 22 October; the Sun enters Scorpio on Monday 23 October; Mars enters Scorpio on Tuesday 24 October and Venus does likewise today; Mercury turns retrograde on Sunday 29 October and Neptune also turns direct on the same day.

Now down to the specifics………………

On Monday 2 October Mercury will enter Scorpio and remain in this sign up until 8 December. This has the elements of decay, death, renewal and transformation. The positive manifestation of this can be a new life rising out of the old. We can make the best use of this time to fathom our deepest selves and come to understand what motivates us and what we are really trying to achieve in our life. This is the sign that goes to the deepest core of our being which can reveal hidden truths that have been buried for way too long. If we can align our intentions with our true nature and be aware that we each have our own unique dark side, we may be able to forge ahead and bring to light the real purpose of why we do the things we do. Whilst there is some truth in the fact that some things should always remain a secret, there are also beneficial results in dealing with harsh truths so that there is then no need to feel the guilt of having kept something hidden for so long. We can each create for ourselves a new life out of our new found truths and be more conscious of why we have felt unable to express ourselves openly and honestly before now.

On Saturday 7 October there will be a Full Moon with the Sun at 13 degrees of Libra and the Moon at 13 degrees of Aries. There may be a clash between those who think in terms of ‘what “I” want’ and ‘what “We” want’ in the world. The needs of the individual will be at odds with what the collective feel is needed.

There will be a New Moon on Sunday 22 October at 28 degrees of Libra. This can be a time of unity, balance, order and harmony in the world and in our own personal lives, especially if we have planets in our own chart at about twenty eight degrees of Libra.

On Monday 23 October the Sun will enter Scorpio and remain in this sign for one whole calendar month. This will herald a time when we annually question our mortality and reasons for being here. We can anticipate that matters associated with life and death situations will occupy the thoughts of those in the fields of medicine and the police, and the news will most certainly focus on these areas as well. Often a body that has been hidden for many years can surface during this time frame. Secrets are often let out of the bag, or skeletons found in the closet, literally. It is a time to be introspective, questioning and probing the mysteries of life. There may be more than the usual amount of news related to death, dying and all matters associated with the goods of the dead and their estates. Egypt may also be a topic of news or conversation or to do with items such as a sarcophagus or the Phoenix or other items related to Ancient Egypt. The medical profession my come under scrutiny. This can be a good time to do some re-evaluating of your life, getting rid of past connections that may be hindering your progress and start a clean, new page of life.

On Tuesday 24 October Mars will enter his own sign of Scorpio and remain there up until 6 December. Mars likes being in this sign as it expresses itself more easily and for those who are energetic by nature, this will be an especially productive time. It is also possible that some will misuse these energies and start aggressive and underhanded actions. This is the kind of energy that can be destructive and sinister if the intention is directed that way. Some people will use these negative energies and create problems for some of us and all we can do is protect ourselves in our own personal way, if we have to deal with explosive situations, hostility or anger.

Also today Venus will enter Scorpio and remain there up until 17 November. Those with a deep seated passionate nature will suddenly feel that they want to have their most basic needs met. It is a sultry and magnetic sign and with the entry of Venus here for the next five weeks we may see some super sexy clothing being draped over the rich and the famous or the super models of the day. The focus will be on seduction to a high degree so expect to have your eyes popping during this time frame.

On Sunday 29 October Mercury turns retrograde at 25 degrees of Scorpio and remains in this phase up until 17 November. I will quote again from previous articles how we mere mortals are influenced by this phenomena. (See my feature article on my website for an in-depth comment on this). However briefly, it is a time when people seem to go into an indecisive mode, or they make a decision and then renege on it at a later time.  For some though this can be a good period for mental reflection and deep thought to understand what it is that you truly want to do.  Often writers are highly productive during this time and some people are able to get lots of paper work done.  Some have to re-trace their steps, or send that fax twice, as there are glitches and hitches that can get in the way of clear communications.  This is not the time to make major decisions if you can help it.  As this influence will last approximately 24 days, it can interfere with plans and arrangements, such as to do with travel, tickets, and time schedules.  If you travel to a particular destination during this time, you may later go there again in the future.  This can be one of the most rewarding times to reflect on your thoughts, go over any previously laid plans and reassess whether it is exactly what you had in mind.  You do not need to actually set things in motion at this time, just do the planning and preparation ready for when Mercury goes direct, in about three weeks time. So check the documents three times, allow for alterations to arise, and then check it all once more for accuracy.  However, if you do need to leave a loophole open for further possible changes, then this may actually prove to be a fortunate time to commence a project where there will be no objection to changes you wish to make at a later time.

Also today Neptune turns direct at 17 degrees of Aquarius. This is just wonderful for artists, musicians, writers and poets. Those who may feel as though they had lost sight of the dreams in recent times, may now feel that the Universe is once again open for their perusal and investigation. Psychics will become more in tune and will pick up subtle signals around them to aid their choosing of the right time to do things. The ocean will seem like the most tranquil place to be and those who live near the water, such as myself, will be in their element and soaking up the vibrations of peace and tranquillity from witnessing a beautiful sunrise over the magnificent ocean waves. (I just can’t help myself can I?)

Uranus is still retrograde and will continue in this phase up until mid November 2006. Uranus is the inventor and the discoverer of places beyond our imagination. We may try to re-discover how we can tap into our own unique imagination and realise our true potential and capabilities. We may have denied some of the things that could be and now we may investigate and discover what really is possible.

Neptune continues to be retrograde and will remain in this phase up until almost the end of October 2006. Neptune is the planet of high ideals and elusion. It is also the planet that dissolves situations including ice, icebergs, snow and hail. It can also produce mud slides. This planet was the pivotal planet in the event chart of the landslide in Thredbo. Whilst Jupiter retrograde may have seen many of us go through of period of questioning whether we have enough faith to sustain us, Neptune retrograde may lead some of us to question our ideals and our views on reality. This is also the planet related to drugs and alcohol. There may be far more people finding secret places to hide their trade, and this will make it harder to track those bringing illegal substances in and out of the various countries.

For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception. Jupiter will continue to remain in mutual reception with Pluto all through October, right up until late November.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in October 2006 are:

Wednesday 4 October: Mars trine Neptune. This one is brilliant for putting your head together with another for inspiration. As Mars rules the head and Neptune rules the imagination, much can be gained by taking some time out to receive some insight into a situation you had been trying to fathom. Energy directed positively and with great clarity will bring many rewards. This would be a favourable time to put your idealistic intentions into action. This alignment can be used positively by those who are wise, and on a personal level, if we wish to tune into the Cosmos today, some of us may be witness to some amazing revelations on how we can all live in unity and where our future is heading on a spiritual level. Some will be given the gift of great clarity of vision and be able to tap into the avenues for success, or their definition of it.

Tuesday 10 October: Sun trine Neptune. This is one of those days that will seem magical to those who are open and attuned to the cosmic vibrations around them. A positively inspiring day and one that will be long remembered as a day that brings the beautiful side of nature and life to our attention and the recognition that there are great wonders all around us, each and every day, if we just open our eyes and senses. Spend some time relaxing near the ocean and it will soothe your tired or restless soul. Music will be inspirational and those who are gifted in this area may create some magical lyrics or tunes. Opening a store selling musical or artistic products should fare well.

Wednesday 11 October: Mercury trine Uranus. This is a day for the scientists, the astrologers, inventors, pilots and the aviation industry to be highly productive. Flashes of insight are possible for those who are open minded. A great day to launch a product that is original and designed to have some kind of shock appeal. Some people will get the best ideas they have ever come up with so start a brainstorming session today and it will continue well into the evening due to the high mental energy.

Thursday 12 October: Mars sextile Saturn. This can be productive for the automotive industry or any other industry involved with machinery of all types. Those who make long term investments, especially those involving the real estate business will profit from this further down the track. If you can keep your nose to the grindstone, your abilities and efforts will be recognised by those in authority over you. Perseverance, dedication and endurance are the qualities that can be drawn from this alignment so put them to good use while you can. Your energies will be backed up by your determination to plod on until you reach success.

Saturday 14 October: Venus trine Neptune. This is just wonderful for a first date, getting engaged or married or throwing a huge party or other social gathering. If you utilise the themes of the ocean, romantic or magical effects, the outcome will be truly fascinating for all those who participate. Musicians, artists and poets will be in their element with their thoughts and imagination flowing freely and inspired by the mystical aspects of the Universe. A good day to open a business focussing on the elements of beauty, flowers, crystals, perfumes and women’s products. This could be a heavenly day. Some people may be lucky enough to find their soul-mate. This is a magical time and will colour over all misgivings and produce a haze of wonder and delight that will leave you gasping. New friendships or romances commenced today seem idyllic and will restore your faith in humanity. People generally will appear to be more caring and compassionate. This is the kind of day when everything looks beautiful and inspirational. An ocean journey would be quite pleasurable to the senses or any other similar beautiful scenic location. A wisp of magical stardust will drift down from the heavens and gloss over today, inclining some romantic types to fall in love. The Sun will rise before you even had the chance to put out the candle lights.

Sunday 15 October: Mars sextile Pluto. A great day to open a gym or get involved in any business or project with the aim of improvement or transformation.  A good day to start some home renovations as the energy and ideas will be there.  Also a good time to buy a new car, start your own mechanical engineering business or car retailing, or car repair shop.  Physical energy will be in abundance so if you want to flex the muscles and enter a marathon run, then go to it.

Monday 16 October: Sun sextile Saturn. This promises to keep the established order of things on the right track. If you wish to impress the boss, or show them how responsible and hard working you are, then choose today to make your move. Choose to be upstanding, conservative and reliable and your efforts will be recognized, perhaps not overnight, but it will happen. Applying for jobs in the public service or other traditional establishment will meet with success if you follow the rules to the T. Dress conservatively, obey orders, be on time, and you will surely rise up the corporate ladder if that is what you are wishing for. People need to know they can rely on you and realise that you are the rock upon which others can lean on for guidance and wisdom. Serious efforts made today will have very long range effects so put some real energy into your endeavors. Be there for the long haul, and success will follow. (Please also note the unhelpful Mercury/Neptune occurring today).

Thursday 19 October: Venus sextile Saturn. This is the type of alignment that suggests a good time for entering into new negotiations, friendships or marriage. Any new business that is involved in the finance industry, or to do with women’s products and services, florists and perfumes will prosper if you can stick it out for the long haul.

Friday 20 October: Venus sextile Pluto. This is a magnificent combination and can produce a great day for those seeking true love. I adore this kind of planetary formation. If you should happen to meet a new lover under this influence you will be radically changed overnight. This new person will seem magnetic and passionate. You may feel you have been put under a spell, and in a way you are right. This influence is deep, hypnotic and highly sexual, so expect to go into a relationship and become totally and intimately involved, and very quickly too. Also a good day to get married, start a new business enterprise especially if it involves regeneration themes, getting fit or to do with women’s products and services.

Monday 23 October: Sun conjunct Mars. This alignment can have both positive and negative connotations. It is quite powerful and will generate excitement and possibly argumentativeness if it is ignited. However you can apply this energy in a most positive way and make changes to your life that will see you gaining the recognition and attention you seek. Those in high places may have to account for themselves or are being proud and boastful of their accomplishments. Some people may seem arrogant and brash and look down their noses at others. Displays of aggression or anger though are possible so if those around you are starting to let steam out of their ears, head for the hills, for it may explode out of all proportion. Someone in power may experience a crisis and be removed from their position.

Also today: Mercury conjunct Jupiter. This could prove to be a great day to travel, start a new book, open a book store or one associated with the travel industry. People will generally tend to be liberal and broad-minded in their thinking and approach to life. A good day to start teaching, lecturing or writing a lengthy project or a book. The area of communications and information will be busy and any business started today that connects with these will fare well. This is a good time for negotiations and for getting your message across. The advertising and news media areas will be highly productive. There could be a merger between two large organisations, companies or countries, that can benefit everyone involved. (This aspect is repeated again on Tuesday 31 due to the retrograde action of Mercury). (Please note the unhelpful Mercury/Saturn alignment today).

Wednesday 25 October: Venus conjunct Mars: Those in the business of selling will have a field day if they use the methods of ‘sex sells’ at this time.  The seductive elements between these planets can be wielded on an innocent public who will actually lap it up like a pussycat with a bowl of milk. A good day to get married, engaged, go on a first date or start a business involved in capturing the imagination of those who are interested in what attracts one to another.  Items such as perfumes and aftershaves will sell well today, or any other item that lures people to one another.

Saturday 28 October: Sun conjunct Venus. This lovely alignment is great for getting married, engaged, starting a new romance, going on a first date, opening or investing in a florist shop, or anything associated with music, art, women’s products or decoration of any type. A big party held tonight will go down especially well. This is perhaps one of the better days of the whole year, so go out socialising and see what develops.

Tuesday 31 October: Today there is a repeat of the Mercury conjunct Jupiter alignment, that occurred on Monday 23 October.

The not so favourable days in October 2006 are:

Monday 16 October: Mercury square Neptune. This is one of those potentially deceitful days when people can easily colour over their mistakes and present a picture that is marred inside and out, if you would only lift the veil of elusion to view the ugly and distorted truth.  It is wise not to sign any important documents on a day like this as there will be more loopholes than found in a fish-net. Those who generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt will prove to be the most vulnerable.  Do not believe all you read or hear today as there will be lies and deception running rampant.

Monday 23 October: Mercury square Saturn. This is not the day to make agreements as they may involve regulations and obligations that tie you up in knots. There could be some serious decisions made that affect people long after the present. The Mercurial influence could be darkened by sombre Saturn’s habit of making it difficult to see eye to eye and reach amicable agreements about any of these matters. However, those who are wise can instruct those who are not. Those who refuse to take a wider view will only alienate themselves from a comfortable position and find themselves on the other side of the wall. This though can be a good day for serious study. It is not good for purchasing land or other real estate. If you do, then make sure there are no potential problems to do with dampness or rising water levels in the area.

Thursday 26 October: Jupiter square Saturn. Jupiter represents liberty, freedom, justice and the fair end of the deal. Saturn is just the opposite and often relates to restrictions, delays, limitations and what keeps people on the straight and narrow and following conservative rules. These two planets in a square angle means that these two opposite type of energies are at odds with one another. Some people will want to have their freedom at all costs, and those who pursue this to the end may find themselves still having to deal with some restrictions or limitations as a consequence. At the other end of the scale, those who follow the rules may be challenged by those who think they should be more liberal and not so old fashioned by doing everything by the book. I would not consider this a favourable time to travel, nor enter fields of industry involved with the travel industry, especially connected to trains, or to do with government agencies, politics or the law.
