Reality Kicks In

General overview for August 2008.

August is going to be a complicated month with a total of 16 alignments. There are only 6 favourable ones, compared with 11 not so helpful ones. The month starts with a New Moon in Leo so we will be in a more sociable frame of mind than usual.

There are so many tricky planetary alignments that will challenge us to look at life from a realistic perspective, rather than pie in the sky. Saturn (the planet of all that is real and solid) is linked to playful Mercury and peace loving Venus. We may find that reality kicks in with both of these alignments and perhaps we may have to make some important life choices regarding who we love and what our real obligations are, not just to others, but also to ourselves. Melancholy may set in for those who are inclined in this direction. Reality checks may pop up whether we like it or not. Neptune also links to both Mercury and Venus so we may need to check all the fine print and any new lovers in our lives. To top it off Uranus also links to both these planets, again posibly bringing a few curve balls for us to avoid. Many surprises may turn us sideways or upside down this month. Expect the unexpected, as they say.

We have the Sun changing signs, Mars doing likewise, Mercury changing signs twice, Venus doing likewise, and two New Moons in the same calendar month to boot.

In chronological order the changes in the heavens this month are: there will be a New moon at 9 degrees of Leo on Friday 1 August; Venus enters Virgo on 6 August; Mercury enters Virgo on 10 August; there will be a Full Moon on 17 August; Mars enters Libra on 19 August; the life-giving Sun will enter Virgo on 23 August; Mercury enters Libra on 29 August; Venus enters Libra on 31 August and we also have a New Moon today, for the second time this month.

Moving right along...

There will be a New Moon at 9 degrees of Leo on Friday 1 August. This can put the spotlight on fun, entertainment and royalty. We can also be more ego orientated and those seeking the limelight will be more noticed if their attire is colourful, and this will set them aside from all the other people dressed in shades of grey.

Venus enters Virgo on 6 August and remains in this sign up until 30 August. During this time, we may notice that health issues are of more importance to some, especially matters involving hygiene and cleanliness. This would be a good time to start a cookery course, especially one that may lead to an income as a chef or restaurant owner. Some people can become quite materialist during this time and put this ahead of their love lives. It is likely to be a slump period for weddings, as we become fussier about what we want, or don’t want, in relationships.

Mercury enters Virgo on 10 August and remains in this sign up until 29 August. There will tend to be more focus on health care issues, the hospital system and matters associated with hygiene and cleanliness. There could be some contamination in the water system or air conditioning systems come to light or to do with plumbing and drainage systems.

There will be a Full Moon on 17 August with the Sun at 24 degrees of Leo and the Moon at 24 degrees of Aquarius. Those who display themselves as glamorous and regal may be at odds with those who prefer to go against the status quo. For some the ego may get in the way of the collective vision of mankind. Try to be more open-minded and offer a helping hand to those in need.

Mars enters Libra on 19 August and remains in this sign up until 4 October. This will ignite the fires of passion and some relationships will feel the heat and come to an abrupt end. The issues of justice and fair play will be hotly debated and peace-making attempts can be stifled by egos getting in the way of decency and the right thing to do.

The life-giving Sun will enter Virgo on 23 August and will remain in this sign one whole calendar month up until 22 September 2008. This month long transit is the natural time of the year to start a significant new relationship, as the sign of Libra specifically relates to unions of all kinds. It is also a time when we can achieve unity, if that is what we truly want. This month long transit by the Sun will put the spotlight on the romantic affairs of those in the Royal families around the world and also on various VIP’s and their relationships. It is also a time when people want to see justice done and so some issues may reach the headlines to do with people in the courtrooms, trying to reach reconciliation. It is possible that some situations may actually come to fruition and be resolved once and for all. We may see the beginnings of some new relationships making the headlines or agreements are reached on previously contentious issues. There will be a focus on peace-making and resolutions to prior conflict. A balance in power is possible.

Mercury enters Libra on 29 August and remains in this sign up until 4 November. This is the sign of balance, justice, unity, partnerships, and putting things in order. This approximate two and a half months duration can bring about major discussions concerning any of these matters. The newspapers will literally be eating up any juicy items connected to those who step out of the boundaries of the law. Young people may also head for the altar to declare their feelings of love, more so than usual. It is a time to see the other’s point of view and to reach amicable agreements.

Venus enters Libra on 31 August and remains in this sign up until 24 September. This will put the focus on justice etc and we may hear of some VIP partnerships being announced, special engagements or peace agreements. This peace-loving sign can bring harmony to areas that have been discordant in the past and people can be mended of their broken hearts or dreams. The fashion industry may also show us some lovely, elegant and/or expensive designs. Those opening businesses that focus on beauty, women's products and services will fare better than at any other time.

We also have a New Moon at 7 degrees of Virgo today, this being the second New Moon this month. This can put the spotlight on the health, medicine, hospital and food industries or places where cleanliness and good hygiene is important.

Jupiter will continue its transit of Capricorn and remain in this sign up until 5 January 2009. Now is the time to get serious about our personal lives, our goals and assess what our real responsibilities are, to ourselves and to others. It is a time of planning and preparation for the future. This could also prove to be a fortunate time to invest in the property market, buildings or in any solid and long established company. Taking care of our planet and the environment will also become of paramount importance to many people who will do whatever they can to protect our children and their future on this wonderful planet we call Earth.

Saturn continues its transit of Virgo. This is an earthy, practical and analytical sign. We may see a focus on matters associated with health, hygiene, medicines and all associated medical services. New rules and regulations may be applied to any of these areas, food handling, and also with the military sector. There may be limiting or restrictive conditions put into place with regards to any of the above and medical prescriptions and procedures.

Uranus turned retrograde on 27 June and remains in this phase up until 27 November. Uranus is the inventor and the discoverer of places beyond our imagination. We may try to re-discover how we can tap into our own unique imagination and realise our true potential and capabilities. We may have denied some of the things that could be and now we may investigate and discover what really is possible.

Neptune continues to remain retrograde and stays in this phase up until 2 November 2008. Neptune is the planet of high ideals and elusion. It is also the planet that dissolves situations including ice, icebergs, snow and hail. It can also produce mud slides. This planet was the pivotal planet in the event chart of the landslide in Thredbo. Whilst Jupiter retrograde have seen many of us go through of period of questioning whether we have enough faith to sustain us, Neptune retrograde lead some of us to question our ideals and our views on reality. This is also the planet related to drugs and alcohol. There may be far more people finding secret places to hide their trade, and this will make it harder to track those bringing illegal substances in and out of the various countries.

Pluto re-entered Sagittarius on 14 June and will remain in this sign up until 28 November 2008. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess your current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards life, death, and even sex, to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for your overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, explore your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2008. Pluto will remain in Sagittarius until 27 November 2008. Pluto will retrograde back into Sagittarius for five months starting in June 2008 and then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008.

For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in August 2008 are:

Tuesday 5 August: Venus trine Pluto. This is a magnificent combination and can produce a great day for those seeking true love. I adore this kind of planetary formation. If you should happen to meet a new lover under this influence you will be radically changed overnight. This new person will seem magnetic and passionate. You may feel you have been put under a spell, and in a way you are right. This influence is deep, hypnotic and highly sexual, so expect to go into a relationship and become totally and intimately involved, and very quickly too. Also a good day to get married, start a new business enterprise especially if it involves regeneration themes, getting fit or to do with women’s products and services.

Sunday 10 August: Mercury trine Pluto. This would be a good day for private investigators or the police to go digging for information to shed some light on a previously hidden problem. Archaeologists too could have a field day and uncover treasures they had been searching for, for years. Egypt may suddenly seem a great place to be. Any type of exploratory works or projects now will reveal something previously out of view. Writers can achieve a clear focus and produce good works.

Sunday 17 August: Venus trine Jupiter. This is a brilliant day for getting engaged, married or starting a new romance or friendship. Also good for opening a new business, especially if it is connected to women’s products, entertainment, the travel industry or foreign relations. Throwing a lavish party will also meet with success, though could be very costly. Starting a long distance journey, voyage or holiday could put you on a new learning curve and would be highly enjoyable and may result in a new love interest in your life, if you are single and fancy free.

Monday 18 August: Mercury trine Jupiter. This angle promises those who strive to see the bigger picture will do so and teach those who listen how to find it themselves. A great day to start a holiday or travel to places previously unseen. This could prove to be a great day to start writing a new book, open a book store or one associated with the travel industry. People will generally tend to be liberal and broad-minded in their thinking and approach to life. Also a favourable day to start teaching, lecturing or writing a lengthy project. The area of communications and information will be busy and any business started today that connects with these will fare well. This is a good time for negotiations and for getting your message across. The advertising and news media areas will be highly productive. There could be a merger between two large organisations, companies or countries, that can benefit everyone involved. Expansion is the key-word for the day, so plan to make this as positive a time as possible. A busy day for the travel industry and the Internet.

Thursday 21 August: Sun trine Pluto. This can prove to be a great time to try to remake yourself or change your spots, if you need to. A day to spring clean, get rid of the old and outworn and be refreshed by the newness of starting out on a different path. Someone in power may take a gigantic leap forward or be presented with an offer that seems almost too good to be true, but it will ultimately change the course of their destiny. A wonderful day to get married or start a new enterprise that involves reform or renovation in some way. If you wish to pull down the walls and rebuild them, this is the best time to do it. New relationships formed today, whether friendship or intimate, will literally put your life into a different perspective and possibly change your own personal world forever.

Friday 22 August: Mercury conjunct Venus. This tends to incline people towards thoughts of love, harmony and peace. Some will write lengthy declarations of their feelings for the one they adore. Peaceful negotiations are highly likely for those who have the best interests of everyone at heart. A good day to have a celebration, throw a party, go on a special date, get engaged or married. Businesses that focus on communications and the elements of romance will fare well, such as greeting cards offering words of love and friendship. A day of love and poetry and light hearted fun and frivolity. Take time out today to enjoy some lovely music or pleasant scenery and you will be aligning your actions in accord with the romantic and peaceful vibrations of the heavens. Romantic attachments and friendships formed today will be free of jealousy or binding commitments. People will want to be carefree and concerned only with happiness and pleasure.

The not so favourable days in August 2008 are:

Friday 1 August: Venus opposition Neptune. This unhelpful alignment may lure some people who are planning to mix business with pleasure and this brings about disappointment, loss or other confusion due to outright deception or serious camouflage. It is not the time to commit to a relationship or even a friendship, for there is likely to be something glossed over that hides the real truth or some elementary ugliness. An apparent secure relationship may come unstuck and reveal a trail of dishonesty, treachery and lies. Those who live life on the surface and pretend to be happy will be faced with having to show their dirty washing and there may still be something lurking in their pockets. Check all facts and any new faces you meet today.

Thursday 7 August: Mars opposes Uranus. This is highly explosive and accident prone so do not start out on any new journey or buy a car today. Try to avoid working with heavy machinery or electrical items as something may go horribly wrong. Plans will be unsettled and errors likely to arise quite unexpectedly. Take your time if people start to get pushy or forceful. Riots can develop easily so avoid large gatherings or people who are out to start a fight. Do not make any particularly personal decisions today as this could be fraught with problems and dangerous conditions. There is the tendency for people to knee-jerk in their reactions to others if they do not get what they want or hear what they want to hear. This is an accident prone day relatively speaking. People generally won’t be co-operative and disruptive behaviour and even eccentricities will be far more intolerable to cope with than usual. Avoid those who are rebellious or anti-social for they will instigate disruptive actions that will attract problems for themselves and those around them.

Also today, Mercury opposes Neptune. This is one of those potentially deceitful days when people can easily colour over their mistakes and present a picture that is marred inside and out, if you would only lift the veil of elusion to view the ugly and distorted truth. It is wise not to sign any important documents on a day like this as there will be more loopholes than found in a fish-net. Those who generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt will prove to be the most vulnerable. Do not believe all you read or hear today as there will be lies and deception running rampant.

Thursday 14 August: Venus conjunct Saturn. Not a good day to get married, start a new relationship or go on a first date. Any one of these will be productive of delays, limitations or burdens and other difficulties that will be hard to overcome. People will tend to be hard to reach or fathom or understand. Barriers that tend to divide will be more noticeable than usual. Do not start a new business today, especially if it involves women’s products, beauty, music or the arts. Not a good day to try to reach amicable agreements, especially with those near and dear to you. Some will tend to become disappointed in a big way. The air is filled with distance and coldness so don’t attempt to make up with your lover if you have had a fight, as they will not want to hear your plight and may just turn their back and walk the other way. Friendships and new romances will not get off to a good start and may involve heavy responsibilities later on or you find out you have to look after them more than is healthy. Not a good day to start a new business as the setbacks and delays may curtail your freedom and not be worth the effort applied.

Friday 15 August: Sun opposition Neptune. Not the day to trust strangers, get involved in any project you know little about or to be trusting even with those whom you thought would never deceive you. Con artists will flourish today so make sure you know all the facts about someone before you even dare hand over a dollar of your hard earned income to them. There could be a big drug haul occur today and they may even get away with it, unless of course an insider wants to get them busted for a previous indiscretion involving a matter of trust that went badly wrong. Don’t get married today or start any new business for there will be hidden traps for the unwary or the gullible. This alignment is potentially very secretive and people are prone to be susceptible to major confusion. Some who are into swindling and scams will pull the wool over the eyes of those who are gullible and take everything at face value. There will be wolves hiding beneath sheep’s clothing. There will be many who will camouflage their true colours, so for those who are wearing blinkers, you may suffer at their hands. To put it simply, as I have said before, trust everyone, but cut the cake yourself. Drugs may be found in unlikely places or hidden by people whom you would not suspect. Just remember, no-one should be above reproach. Beware of danger or problems near the ocean, gas, oil wells, and take care that there is nothing contaminating your food or drinks. Poisoning can occur for the unwary. Friendships formed today need to pass the test of time before people are considered trustworthy. Someone in power may be on an ego trip, or trying to call someone's bluff on a major issue. Do not trust strangers or any new kids on the block.

Saturday 16 August: Mercury conjunct Saturn. This is not the day to make agreements as they may involve regulations and obligations that tie you up in knots. There could be some serious decisions made that affect people long after the present. The Mercurial influence could be darkened by sombre Saturn’s habit of making it difficult to see eye to eye and reach amicable agreements about any of these matters. However, those who are wise can instruct those who are not. Those who refuse to take a wider view will only alienate themselves from a comfortable position and find themselves on the other side of the wall. This though can be a good day for serious study. It is not good for purchasing land or other real estate. If you do, then make sure there are no potential problems to do with dampness or rising water levels in the area.

Sunday 17 August: Mars square Pluto. This is the most volatile aspect we have this month and can be connected with potential war threats in the world. Both Mars and Pluto have rulership over death and violence, so this is not the time to walk alone in a dark alley nor take chances with your life, risk your safety or meet with strangers. The air can be explosive and deep resentments can build from encounters made today that have sinister intentions. Don’t start a new business or friendship today and make every attempt to avoid people and places of shady character, or large groups of angry people.

Saturday 23 August: Mercury opposition Uranus. A buzzing and electrically charged day so plan your agenda with plenty of room to manoeuvre when the interruptions come in. Many will find themselves mentally exhausted after a day like this and the long hot bath at the end of the day will be truly welcomed before retiring to bed. Some will just thrive though, receiving flashes like bolts of lightening entering their brainwaves. Some will come up with the most amazing insights and new inventions. Keep a pen and paper handy or a tape recorder for all those great ideas to make note of before they get lost in cyberspace. The Internet will go into overdrive too and your inbox could overflow or get blocked in some way due to over use. Plans and travel arrangements can run amok so be prepared and have an alternative route to follow. Accidents will happen for those who are unprepared for changes as they arise. Not the day to buy a computer or any other electrical item. Steer clear of potential hazards such as frayed electrical cords etc. Young people are more at risk than the elderly.

Sunday 24 August: Venus opposition Uranus. This can throw a spanner in the works or a curve ball your way that you were not anticipating. As this is a not so favourable influence for starting new friendships, relationships of getting married, I would wait for a more opportune blending of heavenly star patterns. If unions are commenced today they may be brief or the person leaves very abruptly with almost no warning. Those who choose today to marry may find themselves in the divorce courts before too long. It is an OK time to have a masquerade party or other social event where people are permitted to let their hair down and be as wild as they wish. Just don’t expect new liaisons to be long-term, nor get involved in financial affairs that have the slightest suggestion of risk.

Thursday 28 August: Mercury square Pluto. This is an aspect that will test those who are trying to push their wares or ideas on others, for resistance will be felt, which could be very subtle and hidden from view. Documents, alarming news and propaganda will claim the mass attention in some way so be alert and read everything thoroughly that you have to sign. Preferably wait for a more fortunate time to commence any new undertaking, especially if it involves taxes, insurance, or other joint monetary ventures. We need to guard against being manipulated or coerced into something we would rather not do. People who insist on digging up old matters from the past will find they cannot heal their wounds just yet, as it is too painful or confronting. There are likely to be many communications that should be mistrusted, whether verbal, e-mail or by letter. Documents may be misleading or have loop holes that are indiscernible. Agreements are unlikely or will be fraught with problems.

Friday 29 August: Venus square Pluto. Not the best kind of day to start a new romance, friendship, or get engaged or married. Hidden motives or jealousy could set the tone for a disastrous relationship, so avoid those tall dark strangers who surround themselves in mystery and intrigue. Do not trust anyone you meet for the first time, no matter how enticing it may seem. You could get caught in the black widow spider’s web of deceit and corruption. Some people may violate others rights and con them into believing they are onto something wonderful, however the wolf in sheep’s clothing is very near the door. People who harbor grudges will be on every corner so avoid any entanglement that shows any sign whatsoever of someone who is bitter or twisted in any way. However this may be hard to pinpoint, due the deceptive element of this aspect.
