Let's Sing And Dance The Year Away
General overview for January 2008.
This month of January is going to be a time of many changes, especially with the entry of Pluto into Capricorn.
There are more positive alignments (7) than the not so favourable ones (6), and a few that can go either way.
The month starts with an opposition between the God of War, Mars, and the God of the Underworld, Pluto. At the time of writing (6 January, this has already passed). Anyway the start of a year is only a man made thing, so does not necessarily indicate that the year as a whole is off to a bad start.
There are four planets changing signs, namely Mercury, Venus, the Sun and Pluto, so a shift in consciousness is likely on a global level. There are also two planets changing direction, namely Mercury going retrograde and Mars turning direct.
We can choose to start our new year any way we want to and prepare for a better life for ourselves. The planets do not dictate to us what will happen in our lives, they just show what energies are around and give us an idea on what is the best way to deal with this. There are definitely times when we should be more cautious than at other times, and that is why I write this newsletter. The alignments give us insight into what is the best time to do certain things, and also when it is advisable to take extreme care and perhaps not even make a decision when the planets are not so harmonious to one another.
In my humble opinion, I say let's sing and dance the whole year away. That might sound optimistic, especially since I have been mourning the loss of my darling husband Alex since last May. However, despite this and the difficuly I have endured just even coming to terms with this loss, my attitude today is somewhat much calmer. I now want to live my life as full as I possibly can. Alex would want me to. So I am going to try to sing and dance the whole year away. I love dancing, I can't sing, but I will try. If I had just one wish for all the women out there who are looking for Mr Right, I would wish that you all could meet someone as loving as Alex was to me. Then you would feel absolutely blessed.
In chronological order there are various changes in the heavens this month and they are: On Tuesday 1 January 2008 Mars retrogrades back into Gemini; Mercury enters Aquarius on Tuesday 8 January; also today there will be a New Moon today at 17 degrees of Capricorn; the Sun enters Aquarius on Monday 21 January; there will be a Full Moon on Tuesday 22 January at 1 degree of Leo; Venus will enter Capricorn on Thursday 14 January Pluto will enter Capricorn on Saturday 26 January; Mercury turns retrograde on Tuesday 29 January; and lastly Mars will turn direct on Thursday 31 January.
Moving right along...
On Tuesday 1 January 2008 Mars retrograded back into Gemini and remains in this sign up until 4 March. During this time some people may enjoy debating and/or even arguing, just for arguments sake. There may be some distress associated with twin births during this time. News generally will be relayed in a hurry and for those who rush headlong into battle, the throng will be vicious, especially verbally. Avoid noisy crowds or people bragging or making trouble for themselves. News items will focus on people in groups, demonstrators and those who wish to be heard, despite how aggravating it may be for the audience.
Mercury will enter Aquarius on Tuesday 8 January and remain in this sign up until 14 March. This sign is associated with astrology, astrologers and things associated with modern technology such as computers and the aviation industry. Astrologers will be busy and sought after more so than usual. Thoughts can now hold more focus, for some, but not all, on how we can become more altruistic and show concern for our brothers and our sisters on this planet, despite what country they, or we, were born in.
Also today there will be a New Moon today at 17 degrees of Capricorn. What a lovely time to gather in a traditionally orientated, family way in the first month of the new year.
The Sun enters Aquarius on Monday 21 January and this brings in an emphasis on the brotherhood of man being of importance and if we can show our altruistic side we may move forward freely and with a sense of true sharing. We can still maintain our independence and yet be part of large groups of kindred spirits and the bigger picture. We can stand out, be unique and original, yet stay in touch with the overall world collective and unify our aims and interests so that all is equal and at one with the Universe.
There will be a Full Moon on Tuesday 22 January with the Sun at 1 degree Aquarius and the Moon at 1 degree of Leo. For some the ego may get in the way of the collective vision of mankind. Try to be more open-minded and offer a helping hand to those in need.
Venus will enter Capricorn on Thursday 14 January and remain in this sign up until 17 February. This could be a good time to bring some fresh flowers to the office, or do some re-decorating especially anything involving beautiful arrangements, colours, delicate flowing fabrics, drapes or antiques. People of different age groups or nationalities can achieve some harmony if they make the effort during this time.
Pluto will enter Capricorn on Saturday 26 January and remain in this sign for many years to come. We can expect that the established order of some things may be destroyed. Some establishments that appeared to be rock solid may now crumble or come apart at the seams. Some of these may include the British Royal family and its long held traditions. We may see a reigning monarch come to an end, once and for all. People will feel it is time to embrace a republican society rather than one dictated to by Royalty, the churches or the Pope.
The churches may also start to lose their audiences. There will be many transormations in the areas of power and government, and the people who currently hold the top jobs, as they will most likely find themselves out of their seats. Oh the times they are a changin'. We may need to toughen up a little because we are in for a bumpy ride.
Mercury turns retrograde on Tuesday 29 January. (See my feature article on my website for an in-depth comment). However briefly, it is a time when people seem to go into an indecisive mode, or they make a decision and then renege on it at a later time. For some though this can be a good period for mental reflection and deep thought to understand what it is that you truly want to do. Often writers are highly productive during this time and some people are able to get lots of paper work done. Some have to re-trace their steps, or send that fax twice, as there are glitches and hitches that can get in the way of clear communications. This is not the time to make major decisions if you can help it. As this influence will last approx. 23 days, it can interfere with plans and arrangements, such as to do with travel, tickets, and time schedules. If you travel to a particular destination during this time, you may later go there again in the future. This can be one of the most rewarding times to reflect on your thoughts, go over any previously laid plans and reassess whether it is exactly what you had in mind. You do not need to actually set things in motion at this time, just do the planning and preparation ready for when Mercury goes direct, in about three weeks time. So check the documents three times, allow for alterations to arise, and then check it all once more for accuracy. However, if you do need to leave a loophole open for further possible changes, then this may actually prove to be a fortunate time to commence a project where there will be no objection to changes you wish to make at a later time.
Mars will turn direct on Thursday 31 January which can be a time of high energy put into practical endeavors bringing rewards and understanding. The positives are that we can understand the complexities of reality if we want to, and enjoy the fruits of our efforts. Gemini is a flexible air sign, so more energy can be successfully applied to all forms or communications, lectures and attention to contractual agreements. It is most favourable for commencing projects that require perseverance, stamina and loads of energy to complete the task. Mars is brash and overly eager to get things moving. Negatively, the Gemini influence brings problems with the earth, such as dry and windy conditions, hot air movements and fast moving airflow as in hurricanes. There could be excessive heat, accidents or explosions connected to the earth such as forest fires and scorching sand.
Jupiter will continue its transit of Capricorn and remain in this sign up until 5 January 2009. Now is the time to get serious about our personal lives, our goals and assess what our real responsibilities are, to ourselves and to others. It is a time of planning and preparation for the future. This could also prove to be a fortunate time to invest in the property market, buildings or in any solid and long established company. Taking care of our planet and the environment will also become of paramount importance to many people who will do whatever they can to protect our children and their future on this wonderful planet we call Earth.
Saturn continues in its retrograde motion and remains in this phase up until 3 May 2008. Where there had been order, regulations and a stronger hand forcing those to follow the rules, now some people will start running amok, possibly with no sense of where they are going or how to get there. We may not have much stability in the housing market and/or land prices, or it goes through a very sluggish time. Those ambitious ones amongst us, may feel they are getting nowhere or going backwards from their aims. They may have hoped in vain that their plans would take them in leaps and bounds up the corporate ladder. Alas a more propitious time will come for that.
For horary enthusiasts, Mercury will continue to be in mutual reception with Saturn up until 8 January, with Mercury in Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn, and Saturn in Virgo, the sign that Mercury rules. Continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception.
Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.
The favourable days in January 2008 are:
Sunday 6 January: Sun sextile Uranus. This is a very electrical kind of day and one that can bring enormous excitement into people’s lives. Be prepared for the unexpected and the unusual and you will not be disappointed. A great day to go exploring, visit a place you have never been to before, start a new and exciting job or business, especially if it is connected to electronics, the Internet or aviation. Some people will come up with some potentially revolutionary ideas today and inventors will be inspired to bring something new and dazzling to the rest of us. New friendships started today will be very different to what you are used to and could literally turn your life around.
Thursday 16 January: Venus sextile Neptune. This is just wonderful for a first date, getting engaged or married or throwing a huge party or other social gathering. If you utilise the themes of the ocean, romantic or magical effects, the outcome will be truly fascinating for all those who participate. Musicians, artists and poets will be in their element with their thoughts and imagination flowing freely and inspired by the mystical aspects of the Universe. A good day to open a business focussing on the elements of beauty, flowers, crystals, perfumes and women’s products. This could be a heavenly day. Some people may be lucky enough to find their soul-mate. This is a magical time and will colour over all misgivings and produce a haze of wonder and delight that will leave you gasping. New friendships or romances commenced today seem idyllic and will restore your faith in humanity. People generally will appear to be more caring and compassionate. This is the kind of day when everything looks beautiful and inspirational. An ocean journey would be quite pleasurable to the senses or any other similar beautiful scenic location. A wisp of magical stardust will drift down from the heavens and gloss over today, inclining some romantic types to fall in love. The Sun will rise before you even had the chance to put out the candle lights.
Monday 21 January: Jupiter trine Saturn. This harmonising of Jupiter with Saturn can be great for investing in real estate, for starting a new business project, attempting some mammoth challenge and knuckling down to apply yourself 100% and more for the years ahead. A good day too for getting married, buying a home, starting a new savings strategy. Mixing business with pleasure can spell success if you are conservative yet expansive and philosophical in your approach. Contacts with those in a position of power or influence will also meet with approval. Adjust your sights to take in the bigger picture, yet weighing this with a strong sense of responsibility and determination to succeed.
Wednesday 23 January: Mercury conjunct Neptune. This potentially could create confusing conditions or outright deception. Read the fine print, if it is not too fine to read, and do not sign contracts or give confidential information to those who may use it against you. For those who are finely tuned or psychic they will have various inspirations or hunches that could be useful in some way, but be wise and double check your information, regardless of where it comes from. Musicians and artists could have a productive day if they allow themselves the luxury of letting their imagination flow without obstruction.
Wednesday 30 January: Venus trine Saturn. This is the type of alignment that suggests a good time for entering into new negotiations, friendships or marriage. Any new business that is involved in the finance industry, or to do with women’s products and services, florists and perfumes will prosper if you can stick it out for the long haul.
The not so favourable days in January 2008 are:
Thursday 3 January: Mars opposes Pluto. This is the most volatile aspect we have this month and can be connected with potential war threats in the world. Both Mars and Pluto have rulership over death and violence, so this is not the time to walk alone in a dark alley nor take chances with your life, risk your safety or meet with strangers. The air can be explosive and deep resentments can build from encounters made today that have sinister intentions. Don’t start a new business or friendship today and make every attempt to avoid people and places of shady character, or large groups of angry people.
Sunday 6 January: Venus square Saturn. Not a good day to get married, start a new relationship or go on a first date. Any one of these will be productive of delays, limitations or burdens and other difficulties that will be hard to overcome. People will tend to be hard to reach or fathom or understand. Barriers that tend to divide will be more noticeable than usual. Do not start a new business today, especially if it involves women’s products, beauty, music or the arts. Not a good day to try to reach amicable agreements, especially with those near and dear to you. Some will tend to become disappointed in a big way. The air is filled with distance and coldness so don’t attempt to make up with your lover if you have had a fight, as they will not want to hear your plight and may just turn their back and walk the other way. Friendships and new romances will not get off to a good start and may involve heavy responsibilities later on or you find out you have to look after them more than is healthy. Not a good day to start a new business as the setbacks and delays may curtail your freedom and not be worth the effort applied.
Sunday 13 January: Venus squares Uranus. This can throw a spanner in the works or a curve ball your way that you were not anticipating. It is not a favourable influence for starting new friendships, relationships or getting married, so I would wait for a more opportune blending of heavenly star patterns. If unions are commenced today they may be brief or the person leaves very abruptly with almost no warning. Those who choose today to marry may find themselves in the divorce courts before too long. It is an OK time to have a masquerade party or other social event where people are permitted to let their hair down and be as wild as they wish. Just don’t expect new liaisons to be long-term, nor get involved in financial affairs that have the slightest suggestion of risk.
Sunday 20 January: Venus opposition Mars. This is a contentious aspect between Venus, the planet of love and harmony, and Mars, the God of War. This can be highly problematic when it comes to relationships. Men and women will generally speaking not see eye to eye, or they both have a totally different agenda. This is not a good day to have a first date, get engaged or married. There is too much potential discord and people only seeing the physical or exterior of each other rather than the true personality. Physical attraction will be the name of the game so if you are the sensitive, emotional and romantic kind, do not get involved with a new partner around this time as this is definitely not the roses and candlelight aspect. This is more than likely going to bring about hot and steamy encounters that often are not long lasting, though they can be if each person is highly evolved and mature.
Thursday 24 January: Venus conjunct Pluto. This does not bode well for all new relationships, friendships and is not the day to propose, get engaged or married. People can become obsessive about one another and later found to be prying into their private affairs. This is the sinister and subversive side of this aspect and can be productive of jealousy to an insane degree. Those who do choose to unite today will probably live to regret it. There will be undercurrents of resentment and hidden motives to the relationship. One may manipulate the other and this will have sinister overtones and result in pain and suffering to the victim. Also do not start any new enterprise today, especially one that involves your hard earned savings. Do not start a new business project, especially one that involves flowers, perfumes or any situation where you are expecting things to flow smoothly. Time is the great teacher, and today the lessons may be harder to swallow.
