Trying Times

General overview for September 2009.

September is going to be an interesting and mostly trying month as there are so many unhelpful planetary alignments. Reality checks will be the order of the month and a few surprises and curve balls as well. Do you have any recreational days left? If so, take them.

There is an unbalance of planetary alignments throughout September. There are a total of 13 aspects with only 2 favourable ones, compared to 11 not so helpful ones.

This is going to be a difficult month to get through, even for the most enlightened ones amongst us. We may feel pulled between being conservative and striking out on our own. There is also plenty of traps for the unwary. We may have to check all new kids on the block and stay close to home and avoid conflict whenever possible. Love relationships may become troublesome and disappointing. We may tend to see the dark cloud above our heads rather than the blue skies that will eventually emerge. Some people may take two steps forward and three back, and perhaps have to repeat things more than once.

In chronological order the changes in the heavens this month are: there will be a Full Moon on 5 September; Mercury turns retrograde on 7 September; Pluto turns direct on 12 September; Mercury re-enters Virgo on 18 September; there will be a New Moon in Virgo on 18 September; Venus enters Virgo on 20 September; the Sun enters Libra on 23 September; and lastly on 29 September Mercury resumes direct motion at 21 and a half degrees of Virgo.

There will be a Full Moon on 5 September and this often brings something to fruition or conclusion. The life-giving Sun will be at 12 degrees of practical earthy Virgo, whilst the Moon is at 12 degrees of day-dreamy Pisces. If you have personal points at this degree you can anticipate that something you have been seeking the answer to will suddenly come to light, though in a very mysterious way. It is a time to look past the apparent facade and see what magic and clarity of vision we can experience. Those who want to dot the i’s and cross the t’s will be disappointed with the Piscean influence of being off the planet and in their own private world most of the time. Not the best day to discuss final details on any important issues as something may just not be quite right.

Mercury turns retrograde on 7 September and remains in this phase up until 29 September. (See my website for an in-depth comment on this). However briefly, it is a time when people seem to go into an indecisive mode, or they make a decision and then renege on it at a later time. For some though this can be a good period for mental reflection and deep thought to understand what it is that you truly want to do. Often writers are highly productive during this time and some people are able to get lots of paper work done. Some have to re-trace their steps, or send that fax twice, as there are glitches and hitches that can get in the way of clear communications. This is not the time to make major decisions if you can help it. As this influence will last approximately 22 days, it can interfere with plans and arrangements, such as to do with travel, tickets, and time schedules. If you travel to a particular destination during this time, you may later go there again in the future. This can be one of the most rewarding times to reflect on your thoughts, go over any previously laid plans and reassess whether it is exactly what you had in mind. You do not need to actually set things in motion at this time, just do the planning and preparation ready for when Mercury goes direct, in about three weeks time. So check the documents three times, allow for alterations to arise, and then check it all once more for accuracy. However, if you do need to leave a loophole open for further possible changes, then this may actually prove to be a fortunate time to commence a project where there will be no objection to changes you wish to make at a later time.

Pluto turns direct on 12 September at nearly 1 degree of Capricorn. The mighty planet Pluto finally decides to get its act together and move into forward motion, so if you have been mulling over things associated with your past and attempting to set things right and rid yourself of excess baggage, whether that be emotional, or in your accumulation of goods in your home, you may now have a breakthrough and be able to move ahead in a much freer state of mind as if you have wiped the slate clean once and for all. It is time to leave the past in the past, move forward with confidence and a new philosophy that will be more appropriate to your current status and position in life. Some of us will have grown and become more mature during the retrograde phase and rehashed over many things from our memories that have haunted us and held us back. Now we can rise again, like the Phoenix, and start a whole new era. Pluto is the transformer, so this now heralds the time to get things moving. I personally am always so much more positive when Pluto is moving in direct motion. It is then that I feel things are on track. Pluto has nearly completed its transit through the sign Sagittarius and therefore those of us who have undergone some alteration in our beliefs and views on life are pretty much settled with this now.

There will be a New Moon at 18 degrees of Virgo on 18 September. This can put the spotlight on the health, medicine, hospital and food industries or places where cleanliness and good hygiene is important.

Venus enters Virgo on 20 September and remains in this sign up until 15 October. During this time, we may notice that health issues are of more importance to some, especially matters involving hygiene and cleanliness. This would be a good time to start a cookery course, especially one that may lead to an income as a chef or restaurant owner. Some people can become quite materialist during this time and put this ahead of their love lives. It is likely to be a slump period for weddings, as we become fussier about what we want, or don’t want, in relationships.

Mercury re-enters Virgo on 20 September and remains in this phase up until 29 September. There will tend to be more focus on health care issues, the hospital system and matters associated with hygiene and cleanliness. There could be some contamination in the water system or air conditioning systems come to light or to do with plumbing and drainage systems.

Mercury turns retrograde on 7 September; Pluto turns direct on 12 September; Mercury re-enters Virgo on 18 September; there will be a New Moon in Virgo on 18 September; Venus enters Virgo on 20 September; the Sun enters Libra on 23 September; and lastly on 29 September Mercury resumes direct motion at 21 and a half degrees of Virgo.

The Sun enters Libra on 23 September for one whole calendar month. This month long transit is the natural time of the year to start a significant new relationship, as the sign of Libra specifically relates to unions of all kinds. It is also a time when we can achieve unity, if that is what we truly want. This month long transit by the Sun will put the spotlight on the romantic affairs of those in the Royal families around the world and also on various VIP’s and their relationships. It is also a time when people want to see justice done and so some issues may reach the headlines to do with people in the courtrooms, trying to reach reconciliation. It is possible that some situations may actually come to fruition and be resolved once and for all. We may see the beginnings of some new relationships making the headlines or agreements are reached on previously contentious issues. There will be a focus on peace-making and resolutions to prior conflict. A balance in power is possible.

On 29 September Mercury resumes direct motion at 21 and a half degrees of Virgo. If you have any personal points at that degree, some information may come to light regarding the area of life that Mercury rules in your own personal chart. Generally speaking, when Mercury moves back into direct motion things start to pick up speed, especially if they have recently undergone alterations or delays of any kind. Communications get back to normal, people will finally return your phone calls and the fax machine decides to work yet again, finally! Plans that had been put on hold, or holiday arrangements may now seem to flow a little smoother. You can safely trust that your thought processes are once again back on track and not as changeable as they have been recently.

Mars entered Cancer on 26 August and remains in this sign up until 17 October. This Cancerian influence could make us feel even more fiercely protective of our home, family and country and prepared to defend it at all costs. For those who are prone by nature to be aggressive, they may even strike out against their own during this period.

Uranus continues to be retrograde and will remain in this phase up until 1 December 2009. Uranus is the inventor and the discoverer of places beyond our imagination. We may try to re-discover how we can tap into our own unique imagination and realise our true potential and capabilities. We may have denied some of the things that could be and now we may investigate and discover what really is possible.

Jupiter turned retrograde on 15 June and remains in this phase up until 12 October. This I feel will reflect in many and varied ways according to your own unique position and beliefs about life, as Jupiter has rulership over faith. This could prove to be a time when some of us will question our faith and whether it is strong enough to sustain us in trying times. The earthquake in Bam in Iran some years ago, would have to be one of those disasters, where those who are affected would question why this has happened to them. Their beliefs may undergo scrutiny and re-assessment. Some may feel they can no longer believe what they have always believed and may have a change of heart about how they will now view their lives. Jupiter also has to do with the courts and the justice system, so here again there may be some long drawn out situations, or perhaps a decision is made that is challenged by many who disagree with the initial outcome. Some people may want the justice system changed to incorporate capital punishment, and whether this is a wise choice or not, is not for me to decide. We could also see further incidents to do with issues surrounding the travel and sporting industries, especially those related to horses, and associated events which may come under scrutiny.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in September 2009 are:

Sunday 20 September: Sun conjunct Mercury. This aspect makes some people get really focussed mentally while others just get flustered or frazzled by too much grey matter being stimulated. For those who like a fast pace in their daily routine they will sail ahead smoothly and swiftly. The others will have to do it again probably, and then they will get it right. This is called a combust situation, where a planet is so close to the Sun and the Sun can literally burn up the other planet. This can cause a congestion of information on telephone lines, faxes, e-mails and even face to face communications, where one person is just not hearing the other or cannot seem to reach an agreement or get their heads together on the same issue. Postpone any really important negotiations until a better day. Some people will enjoy a day like this and they will not be agitated by the influx of interruptions or extra communications because they will literally thrive on it. At least they will not have a boring day. The rest of us will be somewhat confused and exhausted by the end of the day and be seeking some quiet time away from the demands of this modern world.

Monday 21 September: Venus trine Pluto. This is a magnificent combination and can produce a great day for those seeking true love. I adore this kind of planetary formation. If you should happen to meet a new lover under this influence you will be radically changed overnight. This new person will seem magnetic and passionate. You may feel you have been put under a spell, and in a way you are right. This influence is deep, hypnotic and highly sexual, so expect to go into a relationship and become totally and intimately involved, and very quickly too. Also a good day to get married, start a new business enterprise especially if it involves regeneration themes, getting fit or to do with women’s products and services.

The not so favourable days in September 2009 are:

Friday 4 September: Mercury square Mars. This is not the day to buy a new car, start a new business or take on more than you can handle. Some people may make hasty or rash decisions, and will wish they hadn't very soon after. Some people may stretch the brawn or the brain, or both, and end up with sore muscles or a headache. I would not advise starting a long road or rail journey. The news may not be what we want to hear and bad news tends to travel fast on days like this too. Also don't expect people to be patient or tolerant today and do not attempt to reach amicable agreements as people just won't be in the mood, or just too rushed to listen. Some people may not take enough care with their speech, taking one foot out of the mouth only to replace it with the other foot just as quickly.

Friday 11 September: Venus opposition Jupiter. This is not perhaps the worst day in the month, unless you are going shopping with that brand new credit card and get carried away by all the goodies on offer. Things will be over-done and lavish and if you apply this in relation to a party, well at least everyone will have a good time, even if they do eat and drink too much or start some new relationship that seems inappropriate to their status. Weddings held today will be big, brash, boastful and very expensive. Diamond dealers may have a good retail trading day as will businesses selling perfumes, flowers, clothing, jewellery and other items of beauty and adornment.

Sunday 13 September: Saturn quincunx Neptune. This is actually a harsh angle, and this has been brewing again for a few weeks. This can be a time, covering several weeks, where the established order of things may dissolve or intentions are misunderstood, or deception is carried out in places of power, authority, and especially in government areas and previously strictly structured organisations. The walls may literally collapse or start to feel the strain. Someone in a high position may be side swiped or they disappear or drown. There may be a scandal in high places and some red faces to answer serious allegations of corruption or misuse of power. What was thought to be stable may become unstable. Ice may melt into the water. Snow capped mountains may experience major landslides.

Tuesday 15 September: Saturn opposition Uranus. (as it did in November last year, and February 2009). Saturn rules everything that is traditional, safe, stable, secure and organized. Uranus rules rebellion, chaos, unpredictable people and situations and upsets the status quo, very suddenly. When these two planets come into conflict with one another, so does the established order of things. We get rebellion against restraints and restrictions. Those who like to plan and map things out in advance can be thrown into chaotic and undisciplined actions by those who want freedom of expression at all costs. Those who rebel are often confronted by the restrictions of the law makers and those in positions of trust and responsibility. It can be a time of extremes and complex situations. This is a confrontational aspect, so some people and events will run the gamut of everything that is possible and then one side will collapse, possibly out of sheer frustration. There may be some catastrophic natural disasters and also rail accidents.

Wednesday 16 September: Venus opposition Neptune. This unhelpful alignment may lure some people who are planning to mix business with pleasure and this brings about disappointment, loss or other confusion due to outright deception or serious camouflage. It is not the time to commit to a relationship or even a friendship, for there is likely to be something glossed over that hides the real truth or some elementary ugliness. An apparent secure relationship may come unstuck and reveal a trail of dishonesty, treachery and lies. Those who live life on the surface and pretend to be happy will be faced with having to show their dirty washing and there may still be something lurking in their pockets. Check all facts and any new faces you meet today.

Thursday 17 September: Mercury square Pluto. This is an aspect that will test those who are trying to push their wares or ideas on others, for resistance will be felt, which could be very subtle and hidden from view. Documents, alarming news and propaganda will claim the mass attention in some way so be alert and read everything thoroughly that you have to sign. Preferably wait for a more fortunate time to commence any new undertaking, especially if it involves taxes, insurance, or other joint monetary ventures. We need to guard against being manipulated or coerced into something we would rather not do. People who insist on digging up old matters from the past will find they cannot heal their wounds just yet, as it is too painful or confronting. There are likely to by many communications that should be mistrusted, whether verbal, e-mail or by letter. Documents may be misleading or have loop holes that are indiscernible. Agreements are unlikely or will be fraught with problems.

Thursday 17 September: Sun opposition Uranus. Don’t count on things going as planned today, for every little hiccup can magnify and throw your life into chaos. Air travel may be disrupted or exceptionally busy and mistakes are likely to occur that interfere with the way you had wanted things to go. Have a plan B ready as more than likely you will need it. Sudden, unexpected events can occur quite rapidly and prevent an easy flow of ideas and plans. Avoid rebellious people and eccentrics as they can play havoc with your routines or your way of life. Someone in power may have their status changed or they suffer an unexpected fall.

Friday 18 September: Sun conjunct Saturn. There are potential limitations imposed by this angle. This influence is not conducive for getting married, taking on a new job, starting a new business or even going for an interview. Chances are there will be problems, delays, restrictions or other depressing conditions to cope with if you try to tackle difficult problems on a day like this. No new ventures should be decided upon or started to avoid problems that could last for many years to come. This can be a disappointing day if you plan to make any significant personal decision that affects your well being and your future plans. This can have long-term ramifications so choose wisely. Not the day to approach the boss for a raise, as people in power are prone to be unreachable. There can be barriers or walls to challenge those who try to make peaceful negotiations, so refrain from these today where possible. An elderly person or a VIP may be in the news and showing concern for their safety or position. Someone in power or politics or royalty may lose their status or standing in the community.

Tuesday 22 September: Mercury conjunct Saturn. This is not the day to make agreements as they may involve regulations and obligations that tie you up in knots. There could be some serious decisions made that affect people long after the present. The Mercurial influence could be darkened by sombre Saturn’s habit of making it difficult to see eye to eye and reach amicable agreements about any of these matters. However, those who are wise can instruct those who are not. Those who refuse to take a wider view will only alienate themselves from a comfortable position and find themselves on the other side of the wall. This though can be a good day for serious study. It is not good for purchasing land or other real estate. If you do, then make sure there are no potential problems to do with dampness or rising water levels in the area.

Thursday 24 September: Mercury opposition Uranus. A buzzing and electrically charged day so plan your agenda with plenty of room to manoeuvre when the interruptions come in. Many will find themselves mentally exhausted after a day like this and the long hot bath at the end of the day will be truly welcomed before retiring to bed. Some will just thrive though, receiving flashes like bolts of lightening entering their brainwaves. Some will come up with the most amazing insights and new inventions. Keep a pen and paper handy or a tape recorder for all those great ideas to make note of before they get lost in cyberspace. The Internet will go into overdrive too and your inbox could overflow or get blocked in some way due to over use. Plans and travel arrangements can run amok so be prepared and have an alternative route to follow. Accidents will happen for those who are unprepared for changes as they arise. Not the day to buy a computer or any other electrical item. Steer clear of potential hazards such as frayed electrical cords etc. Young people are more at risk than the elderly.

Thursday 24 September: Sun square Pluto. This is potentially a highly volatile and explosive angle that can erupt from out of nowhere and create chaos and ruin for those who take chances with their lives and their safety. A VIP or other person of high standing may take a fall or be held accountable for some misdeed from their past. Any secrets that are buried may be re-surfaced and exposed for all to see. This will be an ugly time for some, as the underworld elements of this can be exposed and create unpleasant situations for people to try to extract themselves from what they are involved in. Not a good day to buy a car, go into business, get married, engaged or start a new job, friendship or other personal decisions that can reflect on oneself at a later time. Be careful who you associate with and do not trust strangers. Alleyways and dark places should be avoided like the plague.
